I stopped about 4 months after launch. Maxxed out/ geared out my toon and left just as the noob squad started taking over. I really hate using terms like "noob" and whatnot, as every player deserves a chance and I met/ played with tonnes of great gamers, but as with any MMO, some people are just idiots.
And yeah, seeing people at GR12+ in GR7-10 gear was a bit sad, really. I never understood that, grinding the same quest ad infinitum when there was other content...
They broke up the classes more in WKC2. So no more LS pwning everything. To heal you need a staff, I believe.
Very cool changes along with all the added MMOish features. Can't F'n wait.
When they're this commercial they really shouldn't be giving critical reviews. At least not ones that count on the almighty Metacritic (a bit of spite in there as numerical review scores are generally uniformitive).
At least before IGN was just driven by console-loyalists and clicks. Now it's 100% infomercial.
It's natural. You just gravitate to whatever console you like the most. Whether it's the games, the history that you've had with the brand, the box your friends play, whatever. There will always be one you like more and people's attitudes and comments reflect that.
Opinions are fine, and everyone is entitled to their own, but it would be nice if people could argue the consumer end of things more than the personal attachments that they have with their cons...
They're the National Enquirer of our industry. I've never seen so much spin and selective editing from interviews/ quotations in all my life. Post #1.1 nailed it. Bubbles for Wagglelol.
Shout out to all the WKC fans! (in before the trolls arrive) I'm thinking fall of 2011. Should give everyone time to deal with the Q1 PS3 JRPG onlsaught.
Make sure you pick up Trinity, Ar Tonelico 3 and Neptune, fellow JRPG lovers.
For shame! And what was he thinking? Two trailers of stuff? Can't exactly put that in a closet.
Just the right difficulty. A rather satisfying platinum. Dante's Inferno was definitely not a stronger game: visually, story-wise or in terms of challenge.
The controls in Castlevania were a tad clunky at times, and I see how that could piss of easily frustrated gamers (read: most uppity youngins with a sense of entitlement who believe that all things in life - including games - should come effortlessly to them). The Dante's Inferno platinum was a joke in comparis...
Honestly the most fun I've had lately has come from budget or "crap" titles (as defined by professional reviewers). I'm currently playing X-Edge (surprisingly deep and complex title with over a hundred hours of game-play and lots of JRPG "in" jokes). Bulletwich, WKC, Trine, Valhalla Knights 2 and Deadly Premonition are also tonnes of fun. These games are just that, games. They're not trying to be AAA; whatever that means anyway, aside from the amount of money...
Trinity Souls of Zill O'll, FFXIV, Ar Tonelico 3, Hyperdimension Neptune all in Q1 of next year and PS3 exclusive.
Weaboo paradise!!! Can't wait.
Announcements of... announcements...
"GOTY" thrown about... before a game even launches...
Multi-million dollar advertising budgets...
Games considered "flops" if they launch with under than 1 million sales (even Namco agrees, see: Enslaved)...
Hype, commercialization and more hype.
You can tell how big an industry is getting when this much attention is spent on marketing things. That's all the VGA are too: a large, lo...
Game looks awesome, but I'll be waiting for the inevitable DA2 + Expansion + 6 or so DLC pack, "GOTY Edition". It barely makes sense to get certain games 'day of' anymore. I ended up spending close to or over $200 on the original Collector's DA and got my friend the GOTY edition for $40. With the sheer volume of releases this far into the cycle, it isn't a big deal to wait for GOTY version - there's always something else to play.
I'm looking forward to:
- The Agency
- DC Universe
- Everquest Next
- Guild Wars 2
- Ar Tonelico 3
- Another World PS3
- WKC2 (voice actors are in the studio, so it's coming)
- Friggn Namco might actually localize one of THREE PS3 Tales games.
- Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll
- Disgaea 4
- Neptune
- FFXIV
- Magic: The Gathering Tactics
It's a weaboo/ J...
Reviewers tend to do enough of that already :) GOTY!!! BEST GAME EVAR!!! PLAY THIS AND U CAN DIE HAPPY!!!
Oh, the new Naruto game isn't that bad :) Enslaved never grabbed me though, and the hubris of the developers was really stomach turning.
Just give the f'n Tales localization to XSeed already.
And stop pissing off the PS2 fanbase who enjoy your games by putting the flagship games on every system that isn't Sony's - 360, Wii (except for the portables, PSP got a few Tales crumbs). Vesperia and Graces should have been multi from the start.
Tales is a highly niche series. Doesn't have anywhere near the clout as a Final Fantasy game, you can't just whore around the IP and expect legions of fans to follow. All NamcoBandai have done is create consumer co...
We pay $60 for cable each month and only one person in the house watches it - occasionally. I'm a big fan of streaming services. I really enjoy Netflix.
when in the same week, GT5 sold almost 450K.
How did N32 sell in Japan the first week?
That's a Japanese, fantasy slasher, and exclusive; but at least we're comparing apples to oranges instead of apples to hammers.
Edit: I'll be picking this up btw when it hits the West. The JPSN demos were excellent.
There were a few language issues, but I never paid a cent and I got my replacements in the end. I've contacted Sony customer support a few times and they've been reasonably helpful as well.
Most customer experiences are personal. Most customer service agents are unpredictable in the service that they provide. I'm actually surprised when I get someone who doesn't suck, is attentive and can handle my issue correctly.
I'm not defending or ...
DVD does not. Plus all PS3s have hard-drives. Some (few) 360 games are optimized for installs, but not many. PS3s have this luxury (and sometimes necessity) with every game.
Sony just built their hardware better this gen.
