52 on Metacritic. I also loved WKC, Folklore, Kingdom Under Fire COD and Bulletwitch. Reviewers are adequate enough at determining the general reception of a game/ movie/ whatever, but they almost always miss the niche market or whatever opinion isn't popular. If your tastes veer from the norm (and everyone's do to some extent), chances are the review will not match your own opinion.
I have noticed though, that the gaming media are particularly aggressive and polar...
"Generic". Seems campy and not necessarily in a good way. Something about this type of design and vision reminds me of Quantum Theory. And we all know how that turned out. Big fan of the Yakuza series, but this is out of touch. Even the name reads like a bad translation.
So far Bayonetta and Vanquish come to mind as being some of only games that seem to have fused East/ West successfully.
This is just a cinematic trailer though, maybe the gam...
Sounds like cost is something that they're taking into consideration too. Wonder when we'll see a working consumer model with this tech. I'd like to see this "hologram" stuff that Sony is working on as well. It will be interesting to see what sort of sets we're using in a decade. Seems like everything is headed toward 3D/ semi-holographic/ user-interactive screens (read the patent for more info, it's neat).
Anywhere from 30-50 years away from...
Along with Atelier Rorona and two other other discounted titles. It's kind of lame that the Amazon.ca site costs significantly more to order the same things even WITH import fees and international shipping. The same games on Gamestop.ca. If I had ordered/ bought from a Canadian retailer, I would have cost me well over $220. And yeah, we have "Black Fridays" now, but the bargains aren't nearly as good. I spent $124 Canadian, and everything should be at my door by December...
but NISA is localizing all of Imagepooch's stuff. Oh, and I forgot about NIS, they are JRPGs staples too. Sure some of their stuff is total loli-filled madness, but they keep the games coming for better or worse :) Can't wait for Disgaea 4. Ar Tonelico and Zill O'll too! Download the demo (two of them, actually) for the latter one off the Japanese PSN if you haven't already, it's quite good.
I'm not really a sales figures guy, but the PSP has really hit it's stride in the East. That thing is a monster.
The past few years with all the support from Atlus and XSeed, it's become my JRPG machine of choice too. DS has quite a few too, but they're more SNES retro style than PS2 console JRPG. Great time to have either handheld really, if you dig JRPGs.
Unless there were 4 million PSEye cameras in the user base already (as they're needed for Move) and EVERY one of those people bought Move.
Good numbers in any event.
Edit: Where is the source or PR statement for this article btw? I didn't see anything.
Give me MOAR!!! 2011 year of the MMO confirmed. I don't know how I'll find the time to play all of them.
You're confused (as usual). Trolling Omega is entertainment, he never has any substace to back up his bs, and it's fun to see him waffle (if he can edit his reply for a response in 20 mins seeing as he only has one bubble). Most of Omega's posts come from a place of profound insecurity; anyone can see that.
or any other exclusive released for the 360 this year that wasn't Halo.
These things go both ways, Omega. Personally, I'm not a driving fan myself, so I won't be checking this out. That said, millions upon millions of people will be picking up this game.
I can't wait till all the MMOs hit next year. Between work and gaming, I'll barely have the time to log onto N4G and see your tripe. You really bring nothing to a conversation.
You're not lying if you just avoid the truth.
"We Will Never, Ever Charge' for Call of Duty Multiplayer...Introducing the COD MMO!!!"
Or they just might not charge for the online play, but might have micros-transactions, perks or "locked maps" that you need a "pass" or some other b.s. to use.
You have yet to actually state something cohesive or conclusive. If I'm meandering, it's only in an attempt to figure out your vague thought-process. The only point that you raised in 6.1 was regarding the contemplation of cost in relationship to length when purchasing forms of entertainment. That, I've answered (that is important with regards to video-games) and also put forth that you shouldn't be bunching movies/ video-games/books together in the first place for a litany ...
Quickly becoming one of my most anticipated 2011 titles.
Even if we're talking solely about sticker price, books and movies are on average far, far cheaper (in some cases no price at all) than video-games.
If we're looking at the artistic or entertainment value that they provide as a whole, they are also dissimilar. You draw them into comparison together, but they should not be compared as they share nothing outside of being grouped under "entertainment". I wasn't clear whether you were talking about market ...
Physical copies of movies are substantially cheaper (on average) and have a broader appeal than video-games. Going to the theater is an EXPERIENCE, and that is the premium that you pay for. Video-games are a different market of art/ entertainment entirely.
You're comparing apples to elephants. The emotional depth and payout of a good video-game vs. a good book or movie is also - currently - incomparable. There are exceptions, but generally speaking, I think it's sa...
The fact that he doesn't discuss it, is just a glaring oversight in his piece. When you're talking about length, especially, price is going to be a consideration, you can't just ignore it. No one wants to pay $70 for a 3 hour game. The very concept is ludicrous.
If a developer want to make an immersive, perfectly paced 3 hour game, great. Charge me $10 for it and we have a deal. Video-games are a particularly disposable form of entertainment. The vast majority...
- 8 hours is about the perfect game length.
Not really, seeing as I've paid $70 plus tax. Only if you're into MP and only if the MP doesn't suck.
- More condensed and gripping narratives.
This one, I'll give him. Some games can ramble. But unlike other forms of entertainment, VALUE is a key feature of video games. I'm still not paying $70+ for a 6-8 hour game, I don't care how gripping it is. Heavenly Sword was exc...
Even though the work - translations and whatnot - is mostly completed already (for Vesperia). But Namco keeps cock-blocking them. I don't know why NB are being so stingy with an IP that they CLEARLY don't want to support in the West on the PS3. Stupidity or arrogance? Just pass over the rights already.
Voices were so-so, the intro was a bit lacking. The controls were floaty. Visuals were average.
I'm not trolling, that was just my first impression. I'm going to download it again and see if there's something I missed. Maybe I was just in a pissy mood :)
Going to pick up Prototype if it's $15-20 like the rest of the full release titles (Red Faction/ Tomb Raider) we've seen lately.
