Well you have to remember, Sony is not new to MoCap using Cam technology. They have over 3-4 years of time and research invested with the eyetoy. They where planing to show this next year when they had all of their ducks in a row, but MS forced their hand.
The sad thing is, Sony's demo was thrown together, yet it left just as strong as an impression as MS's well polished commercials.
Edit:
Ohh and proof that this is coming sooner than later
Wonder if Sony has ever done full body tracking?....

the future for Natal Gaming:

Would be sweet if you could snap a pic of your work to show your friends. Then again with something like this, it would bring a whole new meaning to digital artist.
not to mention that the EyePet has already shown 50% of what Natal has been shown to do. Just add voice recognition and xmb support and PS3 matches Natal.
But here is the kicker, PSmotion can do things Natal can'd. Begining with 1:1 accuracy in all 3 dimensions, Buttons for multiple gameplay controls, and doesn't require you to stand. Lets see someone play 4-8 hours of Halo ODST or FM3 while standing. Sounds fun at first but would get old real fast.
Plus, PSmotion co...
You have a great point about BD not being big enough for Kojima's full vision. But if 50gb is not enough, just how much does a 7gb dvd get you... 1 level per disc with a mandatory install at best. Yes, now that I see the world through your eyes, I'm sure MGSR will rival MGS4 for depth of content and all kinds of Kojima's personal touches.
Yea it's hands down who the winner is.
Edit:
At the rate Sony is going with this theme, soon everyone will be making entire games from their consoles. It's almost like they are training everyone how to program video games without a line of code. Wow.
Can't wait to see what the next few years brings.

Yea, this looks far from a viable product to me.
The best parts of natal was the voice recognition and dashboard interaction.
The first problem with Natal is that PSeye/EyeToy has shown 50% of what was demonstrated and the rest is really just software. With a firmware update, the PS3 could just as easily use the PSeye to navagate the XMB and do voice recognition of a few keywords... overnight.
The second problem with Natal is that without a reliable way to get true 1:1 tracking, it's just as gimmicky as the current...
Wonder if Tony would let Shaun use his board with this game. Would be an interesting team up.
Plus during the MS conference he just really stressed the issue of the whole "this gen" thing way to much. So....
Sharing notes 1 time with a simulator dev studio is = to over 10yrs of hands on car sim development and car driving experience. OK I'm sold.
Edit:
sarcasm aside, I will admit that customizing your ride is a sweet feature of FM3. But when it comes to driving sims, GT has been delivering nothing but top quality from day one.
Proud we are, fandroids not are we.
PS3 gamers come in many forms, from casual to hard core. However most of us are moderate gamers. We have our hardcore moments for games like KZ2 & Infamous, and our casual sides for Flower and LBP. We are gamers who enjoy the good Sony does and will call em out when they drop the ball. Yea we stand by Sony as needed, but to be honest, we are gamers first, fans second.
MAG is setting the bar high for what console games can do. M...
it will be well worth the effort. I just found this and I wanted to share it here with N4G.
enjoy.

This is just something I happened to come across while researching PS3s Motion controllers.

Edit:
while Natal is still a project in dev, this appears to be just a few games short of release. Thus the reason Sony won e3.
When I saw the sword and shield, Demon Souls was the first thing that poped into my head.... now that I think about it. Assassins Creed would be sweet with this baby.
Now that would be over killer.
PSeye showed half of the same features last year at e3, the other half is software that could be easily added in a firmware update. For Natal to match PSwand's/PSmote's (whatever) 1:1 motion tracking it would either need a major redesign of the hardware, or a wand/mote of it's own. If the later is true, then Natal that was show was incomplete and basically a bunch of bull.
most people didn't notice that as well. They just eat up marketing magic and begin to worship the guy with the "Boomstick".
