The first was too linear... although it did have a lot of the elements needed to set it apart from the rest of the MMO pack.
GW2 seems to be building upon that and taking MMORPGs to the 9001st lvl.
The sad part is, Star Wraith Games is a one man dev team and not some mega corp with billions of dollars. And you'd be surprised at what all he's packed into his games.
It was a top loader so there was no need to worry about someone walking by with heavy steps... or blowing into or swabbing cartridges in hopes of them working.
On top of that it was the first console to feature shutter glasses 3D technology, which is basically the same concept only extremely upgraded that is coming out on HDTV sets today. As a preteen, playing Maze Hunter 3D and Missile Command 3D was mind blowing.

2012 is too close and with consoles still over the $99 mark, there is no need to rush. Also, the economy is recovering, but slowly, so no need to try to push expensive hardware onto the market. Plus, if Ninty was really going to release a Wii HD, this would have been the year to do it.
2013 just sounds like a bad year to release a new console, so I'd say 2014 for the first of the next gen consoles. Likely Nity will be the first to upgrade with MS close on their heels.

In the end they have only further burned their reputation with die hard fans who are now putting their faith in SE on life support. All I can say is that vs13 had better deliver a true FF experience or it could very well be SE's final fantasy.
The real question is how many units will be returned shortly there after.
From what I've seen, you need to have just the right environment for Kinect to work in. Setting up this environment is more work than most casuals will be willing and/or able to do. Once the casual gamers get frustrated with trying to get their Kinect working properly, they will return them in a timely manner.

That pretty much sums up what happens when NPD doesn't release their numbers on a regular basis. VGChartz gets more and more inaccurate and thus they have to adjust their numbers by a "Significant" amount... and still they manage to miss represent the data that is already publicly available.

Sure it's going to sell well, with a $500 mil marketing budget it better sell well. However, once people get a taste of Kinect, they will realize that it's less accurate than the Wiimote.
Yea Kinect is aimed at kids, but even kids don't like broken toys. So don't be surprised if come Dec 26th, Kinect is topping the charts as the most returned item at retailers world wide.

The mods ppl made where crazy.
My fav was the low grav mods. There was nothing like being able to jet up so high... like really high... like up there... I mean so high that it literally took you over five mins just to fall back down to the ground.
Oh and being able to place force fields, turrets, inventory packs anywhere at any time made the game so dynamic. Just the mere ability to create your own choke points on the fly... sweet.

What SE and several JP developers have been calling "westernizing" is really just code for supporting the X360 as much as possible. This has really limited them as to what all they can do in a game and it's showing big time.
I personally feel that Vs13 is the last hope for SE. If it disappoints, then I might actually be able to go this entire gen without purchasing a single SE product... in spite of how much I want to support them.

since they removed Diamonds from the AH, and EQ2x was released, I haven't been playing RoM lately.
EQ2x may be lacking in the graphics department, but it makes up for it in lots of ways. Although I must admit that RoM has some features I'd like to see in EQ2x, but all in all EQ2x is the better game.

While I can't blame MS for marketing the crap out of Kinect... I do wonder if they are going to count all of the units given away as being "sold".
And I still think that Dec 27th will become known to retailers as the "great dis-kinect" day... as in when return lines are filled with MS product.
