On a used game, devs make money from the new game sale. With piracy, devs don't see a cent at any point in time. That right there is a big difference.
If devs really want to see more games sales, then lower the prices. It's the most basic principale of business. Supply and Demand. There is a HUGE supply of quality games, and while there is a healthy demand for those games, not all games are worth $60.

Actually, the PS3 has had usb keyboard and mouse support from day one. It's up to the devs to use them.

I used to get the Madcatz version of the PS controllers due to them being bigger than the original ones, but this gen they don't have a big body controller. Oh well, Madcatz loss will be Snakebytes gain.
Even though this may be targeted at Gamestop and such companies, this will also effect gamers trading games through Ebay and other online sites. Due to Gamestop under paying people for used games, more and more people are turning to online sites to sale their old stock.
Not to mention how this will effect game rentals. Imagine not being able to rent a game and have access to all it's features just because you're not sure if the game is even worth the "$60 across ...

Actually, you'd be surprised how many times my clan/squad will get double and triple teamed. 8 vs 16-24 is not that uncommon if your squad is good at keeping your bunker up.
What I like to see is someone who only got 2 kills, but still ranked in the top 3 due to being great at field support. Reviving, repairing, and placing/disarming charges is just as important as pulling the trigger... actually more so at you can't complete your objectives unless your doing those things.
