Stomping land is by no means the only example of it, with plenty of other games doing similar stuff. Crikey, most DICE stuff these days can be considered early access, only being realistically playable a year after release in some cases with broken mechanics and systems...
Looks like it could be a winner, I'll definitely give it a go when it eventually comes out. Can anyone apply for a beta at this stage?
I'm a big fan of "casual" games, but don't dumb down games that don't really need to be dumbed down. Soem of the mods that have come out for Skyrim, come to mind - they actually make the inventory and UI system more in line with a PC games capability, rather than the stock config which makes it ideal for console gamers.
Dammit, keep the games in context for the audience and also their usability capability based on platform!
Biggest hiccup I'd say is not so much the prize pool, but more to do with the flip-flopping of the players between teams and organizations on a willy-nilly basis. Poor team management also seems to be a contributing factor.
Getting to the point where local teams can compete and reap the rewards seen by international events and teams will take time, and the discipline required to see it through doesn't seem to be there. Very few player organizations actually have that...
Ah yes, this is created by some ZA locals? I'll have a looksie for sure!
I'm generally happy with SWTOR, its end-game content has significantly improved since when it was released. I am a now-and-then subscriber.
This Destiny game looks good, but I don't have the relevant platform to be able to play it
I've heard nothing but bad things about the movie, so i can well imagine that the transition of the IP to a game would not go well. Nice review though, thanks, I'll just mark this title as "avoid"
Woohoo! I'm all over that, thanks for the tip!
Amongst other things, it'll warp expectations for the future. I've got no problem with this type of thing fundamentally, but then ever snot-nosed brat is going to think they have a shot at making their millions because mommy bought them a 'puter and they can play good. And then at what cost? what about "normal" development as far as academia and social adjustment, where does that fit in?
So you can play most of the games available for XBox One without a Kinect - good to know ;)
I can't begin to describe how much I dislike the Spiderman franchise in general, So I miss nothing here!
Meh, the entire "Kinect required" thing seemed like a move to push hardware more than anything else. Other than the functionality of using it to turn it on or off, what other big games really use the Kinect extensively?
Not to mention your game that you're looking forward to is going to be that much more expensive. And probably just as rubbish as this current iteration. A real shame, because i really like Spacey as an actor.
Theme Hospital was a good game - I didn't play it personally, but my brother couldn't get enough of it. Shovelware? More like crapware, Im surprised you gave it as a high a rating as you did...
Yup, Liam Neeson's milk-and-honey voice makes getting into Fallout 3 that much more enjoyable!
I'd really like to see the transaction numbers on these sometime, if they were ever released - how do those transactions sit versus the initial uptake of the game. Really, its just another way that the game companies can make some extra cash out of the game, at this point, even if it doesn't technically get you anything better, just sooner.
But then again, how many other games do this type of thing? the Battlefield series does it so well - you pay for your dedicated s...
So they say... :)
Oh no, now they're going into Sopwith territory... we're doomed...
Looks interesting, I'll try give it a go on the best platform - that best platform being PC, of course!
It shouldn't be a debate about which one sells better or not, but it does determine future direction of which platform is going be preferred to be developed on.
Me, Im still deferring till I hear that the PS4 can do media streaming from local devices, before i even look at getting a next-gen - I like to multi-role my devices...
