Methnks this is a good thing, but I'm curious how open the source is behind this - the big thing especially for the Free-software types is the closed-ness of certain parts of this equation, like the graphics driver blob

This again? Seriously, most games are role-playing in some form or another, basically a big game of pretend - you're pretending to be someone or something else for a time. When you're done, YOU'RE DONE! Get this into your collective heads, people!

I don't know how pavements work in 'Murica, but if they work anything like here, my car's wheel alignment, suspension, steering, and probably more stuff, would be seriously wrecked after the third pavement hop. I drive terribly in any GTA - taking corners in the game while driving means i would inevitably mean hopping curbs, breaking streetlights, traffic lights and so on.

Also, the repair time in real life is a pain, and more expensive.

Seriously...

True, but in some cases they do. So either suck up a bit of bias, and weigh in on multiple reviews which will have SOME sort of subjectivity in them, -or- take what the press kit says at face value.

Reviews are always going to biased in some way - if you objectify the entire thing, you may as well just skip the review bit and go with whatever the press release says. glitches or obviously wrong or broken things with the game itself are one thing, but you're playing a game, watching a movie, listening to music. These things work because they raise an emotional response from the participant in this, and by its nature is going to be subjective, because it means something different from p...

The problem there is nothing "tasteful" about the subject matter, in this case rape. Sadly such a barbaric thing still exists in our "civilized" world today.

I'd rather go with "sensitivity to the subject matter"...

I'd like to think about a part one of my favourite quotes from Alpha Centauri.

"Evil lurks in the datastreams of today, just like they lurked in the streets on yesteryear - but it was never the streets that were evil."

Choices in games are a good thing - If i remember that was that one wacked out shooter that allowed you to shoot into a crowd, shoot one person specifically, or shoot into the air to disperse the crowd. The first two were obvious, but the third is unlabeled and not immediately obvious. Spec Ops - The Line

Sandbox MMO's push this type of behaviour, like EVE Online, calling it emergent behaviour, based on player choices making a bigger impact not just for your experience, b...

Well, this usually happens - its not as if these guys are going to use these types of words beyond this game.

It actually happened to me - I used to read extensively and usually out of my age group when i was little, so I frequently came across words I didn't understand. I looked it up, and kept on going. When I actually tried using them in normal day to day speech, people would look at me funny, because, while dictionaries have the phonetic spelling, I couldnt figure it ...
