It has to 'catchup' because they launched together and are close to 3 million units behind even though apparently without Sony having any current AAA titles. Also PS3 didn't launch at the same time so I fail to see how you can compare the 2 launches. The 360 had a 1 year head start and did well, now launching together and they are almost being doubled in sales under 4 months.
By that reasoning then how come 360 got outsold by the more expensive ps3? They had the price advantage for 7 years straight and still got outsold. Also most of the convenient features are only available to the U.S. which does NOT represent the world.
You might be okay with paying more for lower end specs and crappier 3rd party games just don't assume people are willing to pay $500 for a slight convenience and subpar releases.

It could be $200 million or whatever, but, even it they only sold 2 million copies on PS4 that is still $120 million in sales and more importantly 40-50% of the PS4 customers owning an EA shooter. Then consider they wouldn't have any competition till Destiny in September?! Building the fanbase and getting them to want to buy the next version is more important than the money right now.
Just consider how Mass Effect and some major franchis...
You'd think they'd want to build up their fanbase on PS4 and push COD aside and take up a huge mind share on PS4 and get entrenched to compete with Activision. So instead Destiny by Activision will have almost 2 months without EA competition till their next Battlefield which will be pinned between both Destiny and COD as well.

Exactly keep both and play an incredible library of games. Get PS plus and download free games on both systems as well. The alternative is trade ps3 and get a system with few games in comparison is just stupid. Plus MS is going to drop support like they always do.
