Probably. I personally agree with their list, the only questionable choices are #10 and #9. Both were phenomenal games, but I can't exactly think of what impact they had.
If GT was looking for great games to fill the bottom because they didn't think of anything else quite so influential, they should have replaced Twilight Princess with Okami, which was a bit more creative.
*sigh* Metal Gear Solid is one of the most influential games out there, but it wasn't in this decade. I couldn't count the number of games MGS has influenced, but it came out in 1998.
Metal Gear Solid 3 was the best in the series, but again, it wasn't the one influencing other games. That belongs to the original.
How, exactly, was LittleBigPlanet innovative? Nobody I know knows what LBP is, let alone can count the number of games it has influenced. Even my PS3 owning friends haven't heard of it. The only game off the top of my head that I can say it's had an impact on is Modnation Racers, but that game is another Sony game, and was likely not a coincidental impact.
"...during the development of FFVIII"
Kingdom Hearts was in development for 5 years? Damn!
It's not bad. I've played worse demos (Dark Void), and my dorm hall had a good laugh when I was showing them the alien's decapitations.
Once it's $25 or less I'll bite.
Eh... played BFBC beta already, and just played the AVP demo on XBL.
Just... meh.
Amazing. Getting this midnight launch next week.
It definitely looks like it will deliver.
Between Bayonetta, God of War III, and NMH2, I'll pass on this. If the scores are good, I'll get it when it's $40.
How was Apollo Justice a disappointment? The only problem I had was that Apollo looked silly compared to Phoenix. The cases were solid, and the final trial worked.
It was no Phoenix Wright 3, but it wasn't awful.
No point in playing a demo for this, I'm getting it regardless. I doubt I'll play the Heavy Rain demo either, I'd rather not take the risk of being spoiled part of the game.
Uh huh. And I'll be playing this game comfortably on a couch where I can enjoy watching a large screen.
Darksiders won't stay at that price forever. The only reason it is $42.99 is because Newegg is currently running a deal at that price.
That's why I love Amazon. They are ruthless in price matching. Target had Spirit Tracks, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario & Luigi for $25 last winter and Amazon matched in a matter of hours.
I don't plan on buying MAG seeing how Bioshock 2 will keep me occupied as far as an online shooter is concerned (At least if it's good). If MAG gets good reviews, which at the moment I'm unsure if it will, I'll recommend my PS3 owning friends to buy it.
The marketing is almost nonexistent. Same thing that happened to Heavenly Sword and Resistance 2.
The article isn't bashing the game for it's content, it only is complaining because Sony never seems to care for it's up-and-coming franchises. Games like God of War III and Last Guardian don't need marketing, they have their audience. But on a store shelf, who is going to tell the difference between MAG or Rogue Warrior if they haven't had any advertising to sway them one way or ...
So did you hear that New Super Mario Bros Wii outsold all PS3 exclusives last year combined?
Metroid Prime 3 is far from masterful.
Now Metroid Prime, that is one of the best games of the decade.
"But isn't the argument that Rare *isn't* a solid dev? Just like Square's ability is being questioned over FFXIII, like it has been since they made the change from being Squaresoft, how does Rare earn a free pass since coming under the arm of MS?"
Does it look like they are getting a free pass? People bash them constantly for Viva Pinata, GBTG, and Banjo Kazooie NB, just as people bash Square-Enix for FFXII, FFXIII, Crystal Bearers, and what they charged for FFIV After...
I hate all these pre-order incentives. Every time a new game is about to release I get the $30 Walmart gift card I have sitting in my room ready, only for Gamestop to have an exclusive reward if I go to them.
I don't enjoy supporting companies like this, but I'd rather give them my money then miss out on the content. At least Amazon is carrying the Heavy Rain DLC bonus.
Who knows? Why did they pay $50 million for the GTA4 expansions?
Avatars have been profitable, and as I said before, you could argue that PDZ made the 360 launch as good as it was. It was a horrible game, but all we cared about at the time was playing the "next-gen shooter." So it hasn't all been as bad as Grabbed by the Ghoulies.
That's the game I agree with the most. What other game grosses over $150+ million dollars every single month of the year?
Seriously. There are at least two dozen MMOs that have released in the past five years or are releasing in 2010 that should be kissing WoW's ass.
