There was no hype for Bayonetta. Critic scores showed up and people were like, hey, this could be a fantastic game (Which it was).
Heavy Rain I partially agree with you on. The game was good, but the plot was nothing spectacular.
I don't understand though. Half of the Gameboy Advance's library was ports, look at Super Mario Advance 1-4, Link to the Past, and Metroid Zero Mission for proof. None of these were bad games, but this is not the start of a new trend, this has been going on for a while now.

Anyone who can't appreciate the simple brilliance of Mario Galaxy really needs a reality check, they are likely too into the "gritty realism" and "gothic landscapes" that are crowding the industry these days. If all you care about is dark realistic graphics, then I have a simple answer for you: Grow up.
I can't see how a Viking can be considered any sort of an archetype. It's not like every culture in the past has had a "viking", only vikings had vikings.
For any other culture, it would be a... barbarian.
I like Mass Effect 2 because it's the better game. Not necessarily the better RPG, but it's the superior of the two in my opinion.

Every version of the game has always came with the Code. Even if you're paying next to nothing for the game.

It has some pretty strong competition already but if I enjoy it even half as much as I enjoyed Warcraft III + TFT it'll be my GOTY... for the next 5 years.
