Yeah it probably wouldn't sell too good anyway.
Wow, never even considered that this game would have a secret room. It won't be too much longer before I'll want to play this again so I'll definitely check this out.
There is room for both. Resistance needs a bit more flair in it's art style, which wouldn't be hard for people as creative as Insomniac, and it needs to have more sci-fi guns. Killzone's guns are fairly standard so if Resistance branches out and takes some ideas from Ratchet and Clank, there should definitely be a market for both.
I was most definitely buying this (Playing offline co-op though) but I'm going to need to see some reviews now.
I ain't even a Tomb Raider fan, but the Diablo style play is so intriguing.
Meh. It's not LittleBigPlanet 2 Collector's Edition, that one is a true bargain.
They missed the ETC at the top part of the map on "Zero Hour." Also Diablo is on the level where you first get Reapers and mine minerals for Tosh.
Otherwise, great list. I didn't know about Optimus Prime at all!
My thoughts exactly. And "good" is the best way to put it, all the above mentioned games are very satisfying but there is nothing "great" about any of them.
Retro Studios made the Metroid franchise into a well-recognized and critically acclaimed series, but you can't seriously expect for them to just receive that franchise if they were to split away from Nintendo and join say, Activision do you?
The comparisons are pretty much identical. Donkey Kong had some games before, some great ones (The original) as did Metroid (Super Metroid) but Rare / Retro Studios reinvented each respective franchise.
Yeah I don't get HoD being on this list either. If I had it my way...
1. Dawn of Sorrow
2. Symphony of the Night
3. Order of Ecclesia
4. Aria of Sorrow
5. Portrait of Ruin
Then again, I didn't like the non-Metroidvania ones.
Zaxbys and Bojangles are both superior.
Considering how many 9.0s they've given out these days, I expected no less than a 9.5 (Which in my opinion it deserves. Then again, the only RTSs I like are Starcraft and Warcraft III, and now Starcraft II).
Typically the average score for IGN is a bit lower than the overall. Here, the average is quite a bit higher.
Agreed. A lot of Rare's old games need sequels, I would love to see another Blast Corps, Conker, or Jet Force Gemini. It's a pity they have their head so far up Microsoft's casual ass that they won't give their fans what they want. The fact that they keep acknowledging their old games (JFG clothing in Viva-Pinata, that one holiday premium theme, KI3 in Nuts & Bolts) is just them sticking another knife in an already open wound.
Your points are sound enough. I waited 6-8 long years for this game so I made sure my PC could run it. As for Activision, I hate them too, but by God sometimes we just gotta bite the bullet and do things we don't want to do. If Blizzard shat out a turd and called it Warcraft 4 I would probably buy it. Them and Nintendo are the only two companies I will purchase (almost (Wii Music)) any of their products.
Eh, I would argue that Aria of Sorrow + Dawn of Sorrow surpassed Symphony of the Night. The soul system was quite a lot of fun, so many combinations available. And if you never went and beat the game as Julius in Dawn of Sorrow (And fought the true final boss) you really didn't experience the whole thing.
As for Harmony of Despair, they lost my purchase at "no offline co-op".
If you ask me, the biggest game of the year came out last week.
To each his own though. But you can't really let a site with "Playstation" in the title sway any opinions on what is the biggest game of the year, they are by default excluding over half of the potential games.
I am so damn lost by this article. His #7 says "Final Fantasy III" which automatically makes me wonder if he's talking about the Japanese 3 or 6. The description says Americans never played it until a DS remake, which is true for the original 3. But the release date says 1994, which was the release date of the original 6 in Japan.
I'm just going to guess that he had no idea what he's talking about and just put it on there because he heard it's one...
I want to be excited over this but I'm going to need some impressions closer to launch or reviews for it to win me over.
An excellent score. Interesting to know that the campaign ends abruptly, but I was expecting that already.
The game is poised to become one of my favorite games ever. Hopefully the modding community will deliver soon, because that's the only area Starcraft has (so far) disappointed. But, I can't expect excellence that fast.
There's more story present here than ever in the original. There are about 5 protoss missions integrated into the terran campaign as well - you aren't just getting 1 race if you really want to be nitpicky.
I can see people being a bit disappointed over less races... but you are given 27 missions, some with choices on how to proceed (Haven). This is definitely a complete package. Try the game, if you love Warcraft you will love this. The multiplayer is better than ...
Great score for Lara Croft! It may just be the only game I buy from summer of arcade... though I'm still on the fence for Castlevania + Limbo.
