Ok thanks.

I've imported games before in the past but never hardware. I once won a Japanese PS2 in a magazine competition before it was launched here but I had trouble getting it to work on my TV so I sold it for a ridiculous sum ;P

Will there be any difference between a JP PSV and UK one? Just want to know if I'll have to jump through any hoops later on if I import.

I don't get how attach rates can be lower than 1 at launch. Did people seriously but it with no games?

Ignoring the personal insult, let me just say there's a difference between expressing your opinion and expecting others to change to suit it, that was my point.

Opinions are fine to have until you start pushing them on other people.

Linear games have their place just like open world romps and no other kind of game does story telling as well. Just because YOU don't approve of something doesn't mean the entire industry should bend to your whim.

There really isn't a solid definition to give I'm afraid as it's probably in the eye of the beholder.

Personally, I'd give the title to any who considers gaming as one of their main hobbies and actively gives it considerable financial and intellectual investment. Although I'm not committing to any one definition.

While I'm not sure where you pulled that statistic from I'd have to agree that the 'core' gamers don't make up the majority. However when a new console is released it's the 'core' that go out and pay for the privilege, I'd say the ratio would change dramatically during those crucial first months/years.

So you can see how pissing off the core may not effect a manufacturer in present circumstances but could actually effect them in the longer...

Yeah, which is exactly why they need Bluray.

I have a few 3D movies downloaded on my PC they range in size from 5gb (Rio) to almost 18gb (Avatar). It's not ideal for consoles with limited HDD space or people with average/slower internet connection.

OT: I like Sorcery's new look but I won't be as excited as most people until I see more and understand how well it all works. Definitely on my one to watch list though.

"Microsoft has publicly stated that the XBox 360 will have a 10-year lifespan, which puts the release date at some time in 2015."

Why is this console lifecycle thing so hard for people to grasp? Once more for the people who weren't paying attention...

...just because a console has a 10 year lifecycle doesn't mean it's successor cannot be released until it's not in production anymore.

Good for the environment.

PSV gamers don't need no damn instructions! :P

My Xbox has always been a 'bedroom' gaming machine. If MS want me to use it for my living room entertainment device they're gonna have to somehow add Bluray and 3D movie support.

While I'm not gonna debate the meaning of 'console exclusive', I am going to point out that the only reason Oblivion was not on PS3 was because of the late start.

Newsflash, nobody expects this.

If a series starts multiplat it should stay that way. It would be awful if you started a series on one console, only to find that you had to buy a different console just to continue the story.

Also, they're dreaming as far as Elder Scrolls is concerned.

That was vaguely apparent from the trailer.

Looks like Minecraft + team fortress + er... plant vs zombies?

Nice blog.

However, I feel I should defend Sephiroth a bit, although, being a big FFVII (and Seph.) fan, I may be wearing the rose tinted goggles right now :)

***spoilers***

From my recollection of the FFVII story I can easily agree that, initially, Sephiroth may have overreacted a tad. Burning Nibelheim was an emotional response to a horrific epiphany. As the story progresses, you find that he gradually comes to terms with his creation and...
