This would mean Microsoft would have to be winning both EU and JP regions. This ignores completely if they take the US (which could go either way, but being closer than the PS3 was is still a HUGE win for Sony).

Sure it can "keep up" (the 360 kept up with the PS3, despite latter being more powerful). It doesn't mean it can pump out the exact same fidelity and the power difference will truly show its face later in the gen.

What games on PS4 "barely" handle 1080p? Assassin's Creed IV (1080p/60fps), Killzone (1080p/30 & 60fps), 2K14 (1080p/60fps), Need for Speed, and Knack. All 1080. All running fine.
