Lets remember why the 360 and Wii "FAR" surpassed their predecessors. Neither of those consoles sold more than 25 million, while the PS2 sold 150+ million. That's no easy feat, but one thing I can see happening is the PS3 passing the PS1.
I don't think it bugs them too much either, but they did say when all was said and done, they would have sold more 360s than PS3s.
It's telling, because considering everything that worked against the PS3, it was still enough to overtake the cheaper 360.
@ itsalive: Errr...the "ARCHITECTURE" of the system ,no matter how efficient, still wouldn't put it "a generation ahead" of the best PCs out there. As I advised him, you should do a little reading.
To those disagreeing: care to explain what I said that was, factually, wrong?
I would advise you to read EA's full statement. You're, seemingly, talking out of pure preference, but you can't honestly believe what you're saying when you claim: "PC has the graphics and power that's it."
If you have an understanding of technology, you'd know that the PS4 nor X-One can be a "generation ahead of PCs". It's also a vague statement - ahead of which type of PCs? Low-end? Mid-ranged? Makes no sense.
For example, my rig is made up of a GTX 690, i7 3970X hex-core @ 3.5GHz, 32GB of DDR3 @ 1600MHz of RAM, a 2TB HDD, and a 512GB SSD. How can a machine, with no where close to those specs, be a generation ahead?
Edit: I see he says ahead ...
I'll say, we're getting there. ;)
Looks good visually, but they may as well call it Dead Island 2, from the looks of things.
What does any of this nonsense have to do with the topic? Why hasn't your account been permanently banned from this place yet?
YOU aren't rational, though. So how can you speak for rational people?
Ridge Racer Unbounded released in 2012.
Well, it's not really been 8 years, since the PS3 launched in Nov 2006. It actually has only been 6.5 years of it.
Still, that time has been jam-packed with gaming memories!
@ adorie: I believe he's over-exaggerating what MS may do vs Sony. We have no clue of the marketing plans for either next gen system, and using the PS3 as an example is pointless, since they've already shown they are making drastic changes to better the brand.
He may be right about the amounts they could spend, but even that is more wishful thinking.
I think you're over-exaggerating just a bit.
If VCC is anything to go by, no Zelda game has ever sold over 10 million.
Something tells me you haven't played "most" graphically intensive PC games. Since it shares much of the console'(s) library, are you saying most of their library lacks Art and Direction as well?
Just what the doc ordered!
Seems you completely missed the point of this.
You know something's wrong when you have to type every word in a sentence as capitalized. Too linear? No choices? Nope, you didn't play it.
