You're right, I don't know how to cook meth in a garage lab from Cheech & Chong. But I did learn how to cook pancakes w/o a skillet :)

This is a prime example of how competition actually improves the quality of the industry and gaming in general. IMO, in the day and age of multiplayer, achievements may have saved the single player genre altogether. Not only that, I firmly believe it helps increase revenue for developers and publishers (look at SSDHD as proof). Obviously Sony thought enough of them to implement their own concept of achievements. I am grateful for trophies and hopefully Sony's business model of a free PSN will...

Gears "popularized" the cover system. They didn't invent it, they didn't refine it. Neither did Killswitch. The 1st game on consoles to use the cover system was Winback, on the N64. You know like way back in 1999. You can even collect the main char's dog tag in MGS2 as homage. Anyway, the cover system is EXACTLY the same as today's games. Ironically, the game was developed and published by KOEI, the same ones who make the Dynasty Warriors series that everyone laughs at!

You can buy a single episode for $2.99 of Qore, not a whole year's subscription. Whether or not it's worth it to you is another question. And two, you can buy the disc SKU w/o the headset for $39.99.

Just make a char w/ super speed. Anyway, aren't the heroes and villains just set pieces for quests? I haven't played any MMOs since Everquest (for the same reason - say goodbye to the Sun) so the rules may have changed.

Regarding the city space and lack of people, would you rather have 50 parties all camping the same spawn, waiting for the same quest?

Please tell me the majority of the ranked matches have no respawn. It removes almost all of the tactical skill involved. It used to be pretty effin impressive to have a 6-7 kill streak in Socom - no regenerating health, no cheap perks like choppers/air strikes to boost kills, etc... Just you and your wits N aim. Snatching victory away from the opposing team, getting congratulated in the next round, all good stuff. Hope they didn't deviate from the formula. Well, at least I don't to worry abo...

sh!tty bluetooth headsets or the PS eye mic. Love hearing the backfeed caused by people using them. What? I can't hear you but I hear myself twice LOL.

Your 1st paragraph sounds like many of this gen's biggest games. LOL at the irony. And you're talking about a $10 PSN game. That's rich.

Eden is passive, psychedelic entertainment. With a simple control scheme, bright neon colors, and a music track straight from a Rave, all that's missing is Terence McKenna voiceovers. Strategy is abound in this title if you want to be atop the leaderboard. And that's the hook - one can play PJE either casually or hard-core and still have an in...

You gain more knowledge by researching a topic than by simply reading the evidence anyone can present for you to read. Check out July's VG prediction compared to actual sales data (NPD). Then look for the VG cronies' response after their own posters called them out (especially look the Source's idiotic rebuttal in the comments section). They're all complete tools and you'll see why "true" gamers laugh at them.

Red Faction looks lightyears better and technically runs more efficiently (just MY opinion). Even the HD feeds from the PSN network for Mercs look almost quasi-PS2 in quality, esp. the character models up close. The engine doesn't seem to handle massive explosions very well either as screen tearing and framerate chugging are prevalent during them. After the technical diaster that is Battlefield, I'll be renting first for ANY of these geo-mod games. That includes Fracture.

The Mayans' calendar ceases in 2012 I think, we'll all be dead by then.

On topic, consoles were responsible for 86% of the industry's sales this past year. Analysts have estimated the industry is targeted for 48.7 billion this year. Now, PC often looses as much as 50% of its sales via DD, which isn't reflected in sales. So I actually doubled the PC (from 6.86 billion to 13.72) and overall included the unreported revenue in the total (48.7 to 55.56). Consoles are still generati...

VG is garbage no matter who submits it. Maybe Cyrus finally saw what a retard the Source is - they were even calling him out on his own website. Undertracked ps3 almost 75k and overtracked 360 sales by about 40k according to actual NPD data. Wouldn't include bundled MGS4 as units sold (but did for WiiPlay) - then pulled an aboutface during the middle of the comments section. Said sales spike for the PS3 was due to the Walmart rebate - LOL like all 400k units sold were at Walmart. They don't e...

I think we've all seen those scariest police chase vids where the cops N the bad guys fire point blank at each other frantically running around the car. And what happens? - neither one shoots the other, and both run back to their respective vehicles w/ smoking barrels LOL. In a game, it would assuredly intensify the action.

Nov. 2005 to Nov. 2010 is exactly 5 years, what is typically the lifecycle of a console. Sony has extended it beyond, but as long as MS supports the 360 til 2012 when PS4 launches, I see no reason why a 720 couldn't release in 2010.

Nintendo was completely underwhelming, but then again their core audience doesn't even know about e3 so showing off no hardcore Wii titles gives them an F

Sony showed alot of titles but none were shocking suprises and its 2 biggest PSN titles Socom and WipeoutHD were AWOL sans about 10 seconds. No mention of the great headset, no release timeframe for Home, no pure direction of trophies, etc... Upgrade of 40gig to 80 is nice, but w/o BC still feels like a gimped SKU. D

Where is Nintendo now? Kicking the sh!t out of both right now. If anything this is a good wake up call for Sony and a chance for western 360 owners to experience FF. Like Super said let's wait for all the companies' press conferences. Who knows - maybe the FF7 remake will be announced exclusively for PS3 at Sony's PC. No need for the trolls in both camps to become rabid.

Off topic, can a 360 owner tell me if the 20gig Pro model has HDMI? TY in advance!

By reading CH's post, where did he "bash" the 360 thx? He didn't even mention MS. "Thanks" for showing your stupidity and proving my rant. He made a valid point. WE'RE ALL FANBOYS!! Listen, if you like video games, like to discuss/debate them, register an account to talk to other gamers on websites, buy periodicals because they may have info you haven't yet read, give said information to other RL friends or blokes on your friend's list because they're casuals, YOU'RE a FAN...

The trophy>achievement article is coming later. With that said, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Obviously, Sony thought achievements were a very good idea. I do too and I'm a PS3 only owner. In fact, so much so, that I will now include it as one of the great concepts that MS has introduced/contributed to the gaming industry.

Achievements/Trophies add an extra incentive for people to buy and play games - yes even those that flop critically/commercially....
