it was the exact same trends last year. PS5 versions punched far above their weight while PS4 version is like Glass Joe in terms of sales. Jeece has maintained this counterpoint since PS5's launch. He isn't wrong. We all migrated whenever we could. Some still can't yet. But the proof is undeniable unless you're name is Jim or Herman.
Corporate greed in this case equals 18%. I can't wait till 2024 until we see a few more true exclusives. Sony peddled out...
true but apparently what we've seen is a series of doctored trailers and not the game. Their only experience is a failed VR project they sold off before starting Atomic. The primary investor sounds like a Russian Curt Schilling, i.e. someone with lots of money, no experience, and demanded lots of rewrites. Mundfish let the entire QA team go. Not gonna trash the game but there's definitely some red flags. Honestly, my first one was seeing it's Day1 GamePass title; they're not c...
That's it. Santa Monica I need that cheese axe as DLC. Limburger please.
but that's the gist of my post. When's the last time Nintendo presented a new IP with the full support of the company behind it? Answer is they don't. Splatoon, arguably the biggest new IP in their portfolio, followed that exact development schedule. For Nintendo, and shooter fans on Switch in general, it luckily exploded in popularity.
We both know Nintendo hardware hasn't been cutting edge since Gamecube. Pretty sure we're all ok with that. They prefe...
Thanks to Mad's eternal meme, something just occurred to me. COD isn't the biggest annual game played on Xbox every year. It's the Waiting game, played by tens of millions since 2010. Walking sims like Scorn and interactive movies like Immortality don't hold a candle to this sales juggernaut. Best part - no GP sub required to enjoy this Beast. All it takes is a $500 paperweight (I mean you gotta have the 12TB Goliath to enjoy it in 4K with VRR right?), a fresh account on N4g ...
No new hardware till 2024? With a 19% drop in sales from last year, looks like Fall '23 should be the launch timeframe. They're gonna drive that Wii off the cliff again.
Smirked at this Miyamoto comment: “Nintendo’s strength is in creating new video game experiences, so when we release new hardware in the future, we would like to showcase unique video games that could not be created with pre-existing hardware.”
NEW game experiences? What? Like a ...
Orchard is a well known fanboy that is allowed to do so because it drives up site traffic here. He claims to be a programmer on well known video games yet makes hundreds of posts on N4G daily. So that tells us 2 things: He's either a basement dweller sponging off Mom/Dad or he's an unemployed pothead mooching an existence off some poor girl he hoodwinked. I'm thinking the latter since judging by his post history he has that "I'm too smart to work at MCDonalds but I have n...
seriously, Software I'm the same way. Own 50-60 games on PS5 and Switch apiece but nothing on serX. I have GP. Don't ever plan to buy anything for it because Phil and co. don't care about sales. Any 3rd party game that releases on GP day1 doesn't see a penny from me (they already got my $2 rental fee).
Do you see the problem facing MS? I might be an outlier now but down the road....
like most art, the ChurnButter simulator, err I mean RDR2, is gorgeous to look at but not for playing. The most disappointing sequel last gen alongside Ni No Kuni 2 (both 1st games were in my top ten personal favs of the last decade).
streaming games just sucks. MS doesn't do it any better than Google in this instance. Quit lying
this list just illustrates that people still buy Nintendo hardware for Nintendo software. Despite fan's insistence to the contrary, MH: Rise is the best selling 3rd party game with 10 million sales. And that's with help from PC.
I agree with you that Splatoon 3 isn't a system seller but only because the title was released after the Switch reached market saturation. 8 million sales in 4 months is pretty impressive on a single platform, any way you slice it
Yeah....all 5 of them. Obviously, game budgets now outweigh profit for what essentially boils down to Pong. I'm not talking about coders but licensing costs. Boxing, golf, etc...all fall in this category where real life athletes far supersede their worth in video games. Same thing occurred to Sony's Playstation All-stars. Sony spent 2 generations helping to cultivate all these 3rd party mascots into recognizable assets but when it came to license them for a game, they didn't want ...
damn even the soundtrack is banging. At the 4 minute mark I wanna fire up my 5, grab an axe, launch every Super, throw 6 grenades, cast Firaga, dump an entire clip from a noob cannon into the sky and loot everything in sight....at 5:30 in the morning
Riiight! Thanks to GP I've discovered hundreds of indie fillers I would've never known about otherwise. Best part: team Xbox has discovered how great walking sims and interactive movies really are! And EA Play? Love me some 4 year old sports games!! Why sub up though? Just let MS auto renew that incredible $14.99 a month value. It's so easy!!
zero chance Switchback is a system seller. No way an on-rails shooter becomes a tentpole IP for VR. Too niche. Maybe if Sega had chosen to reboot House of the Dead in VR instead of wasting it on the Switch but I doubt anyone wants to spend north of $1100 for ANY light gun game.
yes a sale is a sale regardless of platform. MMOs, mobile, traditional, even expansions are counted. Capcom lists Iceborne as the 5th best selling product all time on their investor page
Article's title is misleading. MS' best year was in 2008. Funny how the submitter changed the words "in 2008" to "to date". This is an investor's article, nothing more. It mentions no sales data from 2019 on.
Best point of the article: Spencer said he doesn’t think Microsoft will be able to keep the prices of games constant forever. But they can provide impressive amounts of entertainment in comparison with other pursuits. “People can play ...
but not 73% like what they were targeting. That's a really unattainable number. 28% is decent growth considering no noteworthy 1st party titles releasing like you said. Clearly MS views GP as the gateway to PC integration to the Xbox platform since console numbers were stagnant. Sony, after acquiring Bungie, is also releasing 1st party ports and a plethora of GaaS focused titles to that end. Different philosophies, same goal.
MS just really needs for their all their stu...
I got it wrong all this time. You have to be getting paid by Sony at this point
firesprite is rumored to be working on a new installment for VR. Don't know if true but a lot of former Wipeout devs work there still.
