no one does except when they're used in lieu of making new games.
he's going his best damage control since Orchard's AFK. Orchard couldn't take getting official numbers AND percentages simultaneously. He had to go lay down and have Darth pick up the slack
sorry but we differ on Deathloop. Worst money I spent this gen so far on a game. Straight garbage compared to Dishonored and what's worse moving forward they wanna do more games like that instead of Dishonored. Funny how the cringey dialogue in that was overlooked but it's absolutely a travesty in Forspoken. Felt like it was written by a frat boy intern hired by Bethesda straight from a Full Sails commencement ceremony.
what's this, official numbers? We need some numbers the folks here can understand....like total number of axes thrown, health orbs picked up, etc. We have to quantify these metrics or else the game will be a massive flop to a select few
you expect the successor of a device that sold 5 mil lifetime to sell 40%of that within 24 hours at launch? Gosh you're dumb and no wonder a N4G blogger instead of a programmer. Maybe Sony should have all their studios make VR indies since their incapable of making AAA sellers. Sales off PSVR2 units should skyrocket right? I mean that logic supposedly has worked for MS and this way, Sony can have their very own "Orchard"
@ Bab, if that were the case this wouldn't be a hot topic discussion right now, would it? Reality is unless SE puts it on GP, no one will buy it, which then causes MS to have to pay more to secure future releases. Just ain't worth it. Doubt me? Why don't ya tweet some head honcho at Sega and ask how copies of the Yakuza games they've sold since the series debuted on GP and MS consoles.
this year is jam packed amigo. If everything major that's slated for 2023 actually releases in 2023 this is gonna be a wild ride and one of the best. In February alone there's a half dozen flat screen games I'm interested in plus VR2 launch. Think of Spiderman 2 as the cherry on top
That doesn't make any sense though. ABK is the most risk aversive corp in the industry. I can't even remember the last new property they tried to create? Seikero maybe but that deal was a 1 off signed by From to gain some experience working with a major western publisher. No plans for a franchise. Bethesda in the past 12 months has released 2 new IPs in Deathloop and Ghostwire. The ABK deal is about securing CoD (GP day 1) and acquiring King (mobile).
because you can't ignore history Coco. Or you're doomed to repeat it. Like MS over and over the past decade - since 2012. I have no qualms about judging each platform based on its 2023 merits but it'll be this time next year. I mean even if we score each publisher based on its last product released it's GOWR vs. Hi-Fi.
See that list above? I betcha several won't even release in 2023. Trying to declare a winner for alleged 3rd party 2023 releases seems a...
you're actually happy that MS has its AAA devs making indie games? Really? A trillion dollar publisher....must be that IndiePass effect. I wonder if MS is gonna release a sequel to that Burger King game on the 360 next!
this is classic GP filler if there ever was an example. AAA studio making an indie via a trillion dollar publisher? Thank god it's getting good scores or Tango would've been shuttered. When you're first game is you're best seller at 1.5mil, you're not getting too many more chances at MS. Poor Shinji - godfather of video game horror relegated to hoping an avatar snapping his left finger while holding a guitar saves his job
Yeah Deathloop is exactly why I'm worried. That game falls into the category of cringeworthy dialogue like Forspoken, Shadows of the Damned, and Bulletstorm. All these games had the script penned by a 12 year old who just learned to curse. The fact that Arkane THEN came out n said they prefer making Deathloop to Dishonored. Well I just don't know how to respond to that aside from Good Luck
The only thing Sony needs is to hire MS' marketing PR team. Those raging clicks you hear is some kid playing Fortnite on his Xbox controller :}
God those 360 gamepads in 2023 suck
I ended up pre-ordering one Friday but I know exactly what you mean. 1 never got the full support of Sony's top tier studios. Hope this isn't the case again. But Indies seem to have stepped up their game on VR2. Would love to play the Forest sequel in VR
agreed Dom, Rod has shown a timeliness to finish quality projects on schedule. MS would do well to put him in charge of software development when finally acquired. But at the present, he's not employed at MS. Really the question is though why restrict his talent to just Gears? Let him oversee game development and put Cliffy B back in charge of Gears. This bit of humble pie since he left Epic did wonders for his ego and who else cares more for the franchise than he and Rod?
Nonsense. Now that Rod Ferguson left Coalition, let's just see if they can make another Gears first ok? Not one of their internal teams is capable of making good games consistently. Hence the reason they need to buy up publishers and not devs. Remember they tried to do what Sony does and ended up with Compulsion games lol
Another one of MS' monetary deflections down the drain. It was never intended to make it to retail, just distract the masses from the hype of VR. That pic is perfectly fitting. I visualize Phil, Aaron, and co. cackling in a back boardroom as they planned to destroy VR before it launched
wasting your time Menace. Red/Mad/whatever alt he's forced to use at the moment is N4G's longest running schill. There was a time when N4G had an ignore button. Hopefully new management cleans house around here and we get real moderation for once
Glad they returned to their roots. I have a soft spot for this and Front Missions. Interesting to see what they learned with the Souls games and have that experience get applied to an old franchise.
