I think a big reason is the fact that Mass Effect represents modern Western RPG's. What better way to wave that flag than to have it exclusive on Xbox. Really though, most fans of the series played it for either PC or xbox, so it make sense to bring it out to the same crowd. There are probably tons of reasons, and there's still the ability to play it on PC if you only own a PS3 or Wii (Most PC's these days could probably run ME2 I'm going to assume).
They don't need to worry about their console. Live is their baby, not the console. Aside form Live what did they stick to? Since last gen, does anything but Live and Halo still seem present? The tech in that machine was just pricy pc parts, and that was 4 years ago. They could sell it for less than a ps2, and it wouldn't matter at this point.
Still...no..hard drive though..? :( That's not much of a deal if I need to spend another $120.00 on an additional hdd. The Mom and Pops that are xmas shopping might pick one up though, solely based on the price. I still think the Elite bundle is the best value.

On one hand, you have them focusing on the tweaking, collecting, driving, and maintenance of the cars, which should be the main parts in any simulator, but then you have damage on the other hand. I think since online play is such a big thing that dictates replay value nowadays, they would need to add penalties for when one person drives recklessly and cuts corners only to ram the person ahead of them. Anything Blizzard does, you can bet PALADINS are going to be the most OP characters available. Warcraft 2, Diablo 2/LOD, WoW, (never bothered much with Wc3, it causes me to breathe fire and spout profanity just by looking at it...I'm sure they're OP in WC3 too. Call it a hunch. Why not just create tons of clothing for avatars that are say, Nike-branded, y'know? Give Nike a cut, gives them advertising for free, and Sony takes a cut from it. Things like that, real-life licensed products. They could make up the money from those and avoid a sub fee model entirely if they went 100% with that idea..

Did you take a look at the other categories? Everyone would have called bulls**t on them if U2 didn't win GOTY, but if you look, U2 didn't even win best in its genre.
