Even if so, there are limits to how much they are willing to lose. Usually it is a slight loss or just breaking even. Very rare to have a situation like the PS3 where it was taking over a hundred dollar loss right off the bat. They look at their target price and go from there. Either way, I doubt very seriously that console makers will sacrifice processing power or memory in favor of SSD or large hard drives.
