For $30 a year you get 40 games (with more games to be added), plus free rentals, early access, and discounts. If you are going to rent a game anyway it is cheaper to just purchase a month of Access then to actually go rent it. If you are going to purchase one of those free games it's cheaper just to buy a year of Access.
It's the best deal in console gaming.
EA Access is an amazing deal. No idea why it's the most stupid thing to happen in history of gaming. I hope more major publishers do it. It's a huge collection of games, free rentals, early access, and discounts for $30 a year. Amazing deal and I don't even like sports games.
Yeah, the 10 hour trial and getting to start that trial a wk before the game releases is the most underrated aspect of Access. And it really gets people to keep playing on XB1 so there progression gets carried over. The trial is great because there are games like BF1, Dragon Age, Mirrors Edge, and the new Mass Effect that don't really interest me enough to buy so the rental is great. I don't like my XB1 and greatly prefer my PS4, but EA Access is about the only thing that 1 has over PS4. I don't even like EA games but I subscribe because it is such a great deal. Sony really needs Access but they have put themselves in a bad position at this point because Access on XB1 would be better because they have 360 games and also Titanfall 1.
No web browser or Youtube? Holy crap. It may not matter to hardcore gamers, but that stuff and Netflix matter a lot to a kid who wants to use the tablet as a tablet.
I'm not sure why people love Sunshine now. I thought that game was terrible. Hopefully this will be great. Really wish there was a Mario game launching with the Switch. Super Mario 3D World with a few new levels, or Super Mario Maker Deluxe Edition would have made me excited for the launch.
I play over a wired connection. It's an online game so I wouldn't even consider playing over wifi. And it's not just that millisecond of lag. When everyone plays over wifi it can really harm the game. And on top of that, in Nintendo online games you don't play regionally & play w a bunch of people from Japan, AND now we're going to be playing w people playing on a crappy network outside of their home. It really should have come w an ethernet port.
That's such BS. You really don't think there was lag in splatoon when everyone is one wifi & over half the people are playing in Japan? Splatoon would frequently have such bad lag that it would take 5 seconds for your ink to show up on a surface .
It's a puzzle game? I thought it was a platformer. Really astounding there aren't more vr platformers. Platformers would be perfect in vr.

PS4 is essential. XB1 is only essential if you are a big Halo/Gear/Forza fan (I'm a big Gears fan). If Nintendo stops trying to screw over their fans I will get one when Splatoon releases. Absolutely no reason to get one at launch because I don't care about Zelda and can play it on my Wii U.

Not just no ethernet port but also no digital optical out. This crap gets expensive. When I played Splatoon it was already super laggy because more than half the lobby was in Japan and everyone was using WiFi, but now people are going to play on crappy wifi networks outside their home. It's really amazing Nintendo is going to charge for online now.
Really hate the UI on XB1, but at least they are speeding it up. What they need to fix but obviously don't care about is the broken surround sound for people with 7.1 and better. Been broken since launch & just needs a patch.
Splatoon had one of the most underrated campaigns I have ever played.
Unfortunately, platformers just aren't very popular. I remember 2013 and thinking they would make a major return. There was Rayman Legends (one of the best games I've ever played), Mario 3D World (best home console Mario since Mario 64 imo), Ratchet Into the Nexus (best since A Crack in Time imo), Tearaway, and Puppeteer. Never played Puppeteer but the rest were great. Oh, and New Luigi Bros and Knack.

1) Mario 3
2) Mario 1
3) Mario 3D Land
4) Mario 64
5) Mario 3D World
6) Mario Bros 2
7) Mario Maker
Sunshine would be the worst followed by New Mario Bros Wii U. Never got around to play New Mario Bros Wii. Oh yeah, and I would literally murder people to get Super Mario 3D Maker.
Ugh, I like PS Now too. Its perfect if you have children.
