I think that people who are not impressed are looking at the pics with unrealistic expectations. If the environments are really expansive, that could mean that detail will suffer. I agree that the trees in this are not as nice as Crysis, but these are A) demo images and B) we have no clue what else needs to be added at this point.
I think if they can make these environments destructable and have them to this detail level, they will have accomplished quite a bit.
Personal choice of the developers I think. If they don't want to implement damage then they must have a good reason for it, we are not developers we are consumers so if you don't like it don't buy it. Simple as that.
