Er, please limit the racism, people.
But 360 is doing pretty well for itself. Especially considering Nintendo owns over half the console market there (think handhelds, too).
Will 360 win the war in Japan? Heck no.
But it will sell a decent little number of units.
zOMG- Wii is t3h homebrew system of teh future!
Heh. When someone hacks Wii to take a regular network card, call me.
Well, there's also Europe, where 360 is kicking butt, and PS3 hasn't shipped yet.
Or the other huge mess of markets around the world where 360 is, that PS3 didn't launch in, isn't going to anytime soon, etc.
You know, the little things.
Two versions: $500 and $600.
For that price, it better print money. Literally. For me.
And yes- you'll need to touch the screen to use it (and they have a system to use your fingers), but you also have to use the screen to, well, SEE it.
Apple fans are exploding on this one... I just don't get it. It's too expensive, and it's just a friggen' PDA with a cell phone. I could get a touch-screen PDA today for $100, and a decent cell phone for $50 with a new con...
My BS detector is flying off the scale!
Even if true- as said- the whole point was to replace set-top boxes. This project, on the other hand, would require one? Fission mailed!
Quick note: How many PS3 customers actually USE their BluRay for playing movies? These numbers are for people who CHOSE to buy the add-on (360) versus people who had it forced on them whether they wanted it or not (PS3).
Of course the 360 add-on numbers will be lower.
For exaample: Do you see any media outlets touting massive attachment of BluRay movie purchases to PS3 consoles?
"Wii took 2 months to sell 4 million... "
It took Microsoft well into 2006 to MAKE 4 million units. Depends on your perspective on that one, I guess.
But yes, Wii makes the other consoles' sales look tiny.
For those who missed it- 360's controller has publicly available drivers. It can be ported to pretty much anything.
"We could sell the first 5 million units without games."
-Sony
We're just holding Sony to their word here.
“With its large integrated hard drive, Xbox 360 provides an incredible platform for facilitating downloadable content,”
...I get what he MEANT to say here, but the actual words, zey do nutzink. Anyway, the only way I'm getting the 360 version of this is if there's an adapter to sue my PS2 guitars on my 360. It's just too much money to spend, because I need two guitars to play with friends, even if I do wanna upgrade.
PS3 is future-proof? What if BluRay fails as a format? Microsoft would release a BluRay add-on for 360. PS3? Not so much. Xbox 360 is the future-proof console.
And two quick examples:
-Oblivion easily fits on one disc. Massive worlds, hundreds of potential hours of play, virtually all of the dialogue is recorded audio. All on one DVD.
-Gears fits on one disc. The best-looking game ever made for console, a game that tops anything PS3 is even hoping to ship in the...
PS1 games? Har, har.
We all know that 99% of the usage of these cards is centered around pirated movies.
Reminds me of a mom buying memory cards for her Son one fateful Christmas I was working Gamestop:
Mom: "What do you need two 2GB memory cards for?"
...
Kid: "School?"
Or one of my favorites:
Guy looking at a 1GB card: "Can I put movies on this card even if I get them from Kazaa? ... Er, I prob...
I think these are multi maps. Although I'd love to see more Campaign (who wouldn't!), you gotta remember that Epic already plans to make sequels to Gears. Let 'em save that content for the next full game, I sez.
HD-DVD delivers much better audio and video at the moment due to Sony's poor choice of MPEG-2 encoding and audio liensing issues. In side-by-side comparisons, HD-DVD stomps across the board.
So yes, the PS3 and 360's HD movies will be different- 360's will be substantially better in most cases.
However, on the technical side- 360 is capable of full 1080p digital out on both games and movies over its standard port, and currently does so, if only generally over Com...
Will certainly be buying this. I love Worms!
Above poster said it best:
"Bill, don't be Sony."
This is a retarded move. Not stupid, not shortsided- it's retarded. Consoles should stay consoles, PCs should stay PCs.
"The overwhelming consumer demand..."
Anyone feel like going into all the PS3s collecting dust in their area?
And note that the main award was for SONY, not the PS3. "Sony itself received the "Technology and Engineering Emmy Award". Exploding batteries, spyware hidden on music CDs, a lost lawsuit against Immersion... yup, that deserves a Tech Emmy. EDIT: How could I forgot to mention having such massive money issues that the company had to take ou...
Xbox DID turn a profit right around the release of Halo 2, for those who missed it.
And with all the PS3s confirmed to be not flying off the shelves already (local Gamestop has ahd 6 for a week), while both Xbox 360 and Wii were (and are) still selling at breakneck speeds during the same period after launch (same Gamestop still sells out Wii in minutes)...
The developers, this October: "We are 1-4% dont coding the White Engine."
The White Engine will someday be used to build this game. As of the time this trailer was made, the developers had not yet even started coding the game engine yet.
Interesting that they were able to show "real gameplay" before actual production on the game began, eh?
Yeah, looks like Gates is becoming the new Kutaragi. This does not make me happy.
And for Sony fans- you also have nothing to gloat about. See also how Kaz has been up to his usual shenanigans lately.
