Microsoft shipped 1.3M units during their worldwide launch, with the least units shipped to Japan. Sony focused on only two territories, and barely hit that same number, screwing Europe.
Sony's own executives last week: Europe is critical to winning this generation.
Hey, they're not my words.
"I'm wondering what happened to that 50 MB limit that Microsoft has been forcing onto developers for the past 14 months?"
Utterly uninformed fanboyism at its best.
THE HALO BETA MUST BE DOWNLOADED FROM XBOX LIVE, AND IF YOU WANT TO GET ON XBL, YOU NEED A HARD DRIVE. Stop b*tching about Core units, people. People on Core units aren't on Live anyway (by their own choice- meaning they probably don't have broadband), so what does the Halo 3 Beta matter to t...
Both Microsoft and Sony shipped basically the exact same nubmer of units, both companies claimed that number as sales.
1) Let's see the real sales data, please.
2) ...Yes, they're basically neck-and-neck.
3) Wii still sold several times this amount.
"Xbox 360(TM) system will have a 10 million-unit head start by the time the competition enters the market."
Xbox 360 had "shipped" 10 million units by the time PS3 lanched. Technically, they made it.
And don't pretend for a moment that Sony wouldn't have done the same thing.
Damage control: Found out this isn't actually an e3 replacement, and submitted a news story with better details. Sorry for the confusion! Was trying to get the news out faster than I was checking all the facts.
AGAIN- for anyone who's missing the party, the only real differences are:
1) An HDMI port - The current Xbox 360 is confirmed to be able to output in full digital using its current port, meaning this is an absolutely senseless addition if it is true (it's probably a dev kit or mod, as said). The only reason the current 360 doesn't output HDMI is because it just doesn't have cables. It still outputs perfect 1080p over Component cables.
2) A larger Hard Drive- Whic...
Xbox vs. Wii
CPU- x=733mhz, wii= 729
GPU- x=250mhz, wii= 243mb
RAM- x=64mb, wii= 64*mb
I think it's pretty clear that Nintendo used the Xbox as a basis for creating this console. However, there are a lot of complicating factors. For example- remember that Xbox didn't have a Guide back then, so the system was always dedicated to only gaming. The Wii on the other hand constantly has to process all the data from the Wiimotes (accelerometers, pointing devices, ...
Microsoft stated months and months ago that the 360's main port is completely capable of 1080p digital output already. The only reason you can't hook it up to an HDMI TV at this very moment is simply the lack of cables.
Look it up- the actualy quote from M$'s statement read something like they felt an HDMI cable wouldn't sell enough to justify making it right now, but that they were looking at the market.
Sooo... wth is the point of this "Zephyr"?
CAPS LOCK:
1) Actually, yes, Microsoft stated over a year ago that if BluRay won the format war, they'd create a new BluRay extrenal drive for the 360.
2) The PS3 doesn't upscale any games to 1080p, while the 360 upscales ALL games to 1080p. The PS3 is also running basically zero games in native 1080p. So in fact, not only did Microsoft "decide to do" 1080p (Ana upscaler was already in the box all along), they're doing it better than Sony is.
3) ...
Microsoft AND Sony have already publicly stated their companies are moving toward downloads as a primary content delivery means.
Sony = Betting the from on something they already intend to give up soon.
Microsoft = Not investing too highly in an already old'd technology.
Which sounds smarter?
This system would be incapable of playing current PS3 games.
Yeah, this is really true.
There are really moronic stories on this site today.
AND THE FACT THAT MICROSOFT OWNS BUNGIE YOU IDIOTS!!!
*cough*
If you're still actually expecting this game to ever released (and not suck terribly), you are a moron. Read up on the dev history if you don't believe me- the devs have gotten so low, they've actually had to use their forums to drum up game ideas at times when they've run out.
I can't believe this project is still going.
Component cables output 1080p just fine, and will continue to until the industry implements ICT flags, which probably won't happen (if at all) for several years.
What's the fuss? The new hard drive is nice, but with 2 movies, 6 TV shows, tons of saved games, a dozen CDs, and two demos on my system with room to spare... I really don't see where the problem is.
Much ado about nothing.
Simple point: If PS3 is so great, how come it's not selling? At this point last year, 360 was virtually unobtainable and selling for massive profit on eBay. Wii is also still unobtainable and selling for profit despite having (over?) 3x as many console in the market compared to its competitors. PS3 is very obtainable, and not selling for much profit- if any.
Consumers have spoken.
Oh wow- another retarded VR helmet. Welcome to the 80s, folks. zOMG TEH FUTUREZ!1!!
"where is the part were he talks about how hard it is to make games with the cell and how he has asked Sony to have have rumble put back in there controllers."
:lollserskates:
It's true. And notice that, despite his views on HD, the MGS '05 demo was (just like all other Sony games) claimed to be in massive 1080p and running in realtime and (other BS). And the #1 complaint about recent MGS screens has been that they're way too clean- devoid of any interesting ar...
"I worked at circuit city for awhile now. We had ps3s in for a whole week. We sell about 1-2 a day. Barely anyone wants them. They want the Wii, which we sell out instantly."
Same story at Gamestop- and 360 wasn't available like the PS3 is now until March-April in my area.
This game's hype scares me. Why are so many people excited for a GTA clone that happens to be set slightly into the future? The "RPG" elements are probably more like GTA's gadual level-up system. The graphics aren't terribly impressive. The gameplay doesn't look like anything not ripped from the latest GTA and/or superhero game...
