Yea but the console releases while are there are hardly worth considering, even when compared to a dated PC.

Pc games are going quite strong, however retail is not where its at. Its the digital market which has been booming.
When Indie games like Torch light can cross 500,000 copies sold in a matter of months.

Metro 2033 was a sleeper hit of the year. Last steam discount it was on sale for 5usd.
Except there isn't any modding community on console asides unreal on ps3. Also I don't think the avg console gamer will be tranfering all their files to the hdd then applying cracks to it. Completely defeats the purpose of consoles being insert disc and play.
On the PC platform we actually have something called "options".
People can play the way the like be it:
720p or some uber res like 5760*1080.
Mouse + KB, 360 controller or the DS3.
It only does everything.

My brother initially didnt like gaming on PC because he liked the PS3 controller. However ever since we installed motionjoy he loves gaming on PC now. Buys all his multiplat games on PC.
on the contrary 2009 physical sales of software for console was lower then 2008. 2010 not being much ahead of 2009. If anything Consoles sales are going down even though console base is going up.
Steam and the rest of the DD network on the otherhand is constantly posting huge numbers of growth.
3-4yr old PC tech can easily out class consoles in terms of graphics.
Cheaper software on PC ensures people can enjoy many games on this platform.
After the initial cost to get a Console everything just is expensive, thats the way the console makers business model is. In the long run Console is always expensive.

Its not about Buying the hardware alone. Sure console hardware costs cheaper then PC hardware by a few hundered usd. However PC games are much cheaper.

You should check out the deals on Steam, Console game prices will look like a joke then. The few hundered USD hardware price difference can easily be made up with game price differences.
How would Microsoft fund all their marketing budgets, timed exclusive DLCs, staff salaries etc? Console makers need to charge these royalties to survive.

PS3 owners were talking about:
Dreamcast emulation: it ended up running at 7.5fps i wouldnt count that as playable.
Lately they are supposedly getting a Wii emulator, yet that will surely be running in sub hd and very low fps.
Sony promised them 3D, however it just ends up being a marketing checkmark. 3D on PS3 is terrible.

They only cater to Consoles for the extra sales. Later on their games are hardly supported on Console, they lack:
Free updates (games like TF2 on PC are completely different then console version).
Free DLCs
Community Mod support
Dedicated servers
Console versions get none of it. In the end they have to support PC gaming since Steam is such a cash cow for them. Valve is to PC, what MS and Sony are to...
For the last time, why do people want a L4D 3?
L4D 1 and L4D 2 are almost the same game. If they made L4D3 it will just be a rehash. We would rather prefer they keep supporting L4D2 with free DLCs and community support.
