Guys, I had to check meta critic just to see how many 360 games got a 90 or above. The answer is 8, and it's been out twice as long.... and only 2 of them are exclusive to 360....
Is this a joke post or do people really have so much invested in this war they have to perpetually hate?

The Wii has some damned fun games, which my kids, wife and I enjoy nearly every day. If the review scores don't live up to the internet's perception of what they should.... I guess I'll just have to learn to live with that and buck the norm while having fun.

The 360 may pass the Wii, but it will most likely be temporary.
The HALO phenomenon is a unique one, pushing a lot of games and generating massive hype initially, but the long term aspects of it pushing systems for months and months just doesn't check with history.
I think Halo 3 will barely crack 10 million lifetime, and might push ~1 million consoles, since I feel the playerbase for Halo had already adopted the 360 for the most part.
I could very...
I'd be willing to bet your numbers for shop profit and manufacturing costs are much too high per unit.
If Halo 3 costs much over $0.50 - $0.75 per copy to manufacture I'd be very surprised.
The profit is there for M$, the significant costs come from payroll in development and the payout for marketing as the article stated.

But Microsoft is still a shareholder corporation. This means that each division is looked at by shareholders and moves are made to maintain profit for those shareholders.
Yes it's true, Microsoft's pockets are very deep, but there is a set of governing bodies controlling the zipper to that pocket. They will need to start posting profit if we are to have continued competition in high-end gaming.
I hope they do make profit and continue in the business, pushing th...
I think you missed my point some.
If my daughter for example goes into a store, and the store has a price on an item she wants, and she has the money with her and is following all store policies required to purchase that item, she shouldn't be discriminated against and refused service on the basis of an employees opinion of what she should be buying.
I know I have some ability as a dad to control what my kids are exposed to, but a place of business should not, ou...
The source of the "games for good grades" approach should of course be the parents of the kids. As a business you can't worry about the specifics of each situation when trying to move a commodity.
I'm a parent and I've used similar 'bribes' to help my kids learn that hard work pays off, but as a consumer, I don't want to have to prove anything (outside of law requirements) before I purchase a product.

Is at Toys R Us now for $9.99. If you like those types of games like I do.

It's very true Halo 2 sold 5 million right away, but it's also true it only sold 8 million lifetime. I see Halo 3 as capping in the 10-11 million lifetime sales mark.
Super Mario Galaxy could get a 4/5 or 80% Wii attach rate lifetime easily enough. I see SMG selling 7 million copies prior to Jan 1st 08. With 11m Wii's out there and 3-4 million more to be sold before Jan 1st (conservative) 7 million isn't even a stretch. I'm not sure if Halo 3 being a primarily U.S. game ca...
Apparantly not 'always' considering there was a blue special edition regular playstation as well as this white one. ;) Feel free to disagree with a personal opinion though.

The PS1 had multiple revision changes, most of which didn't change the shell, but they were there.
Personally, I like this PS2's white controller, but the box is strange.

Interesting what you said....if no game is perfect, should we ever see 10/10 scores?
I'll pick up bioshock when I can install it more than twice on my PC since I format more often than most people.

Those games were great, heh.
A game that's fun in 8 bit will be more fun in better graphics systems as long as they retain what the game is. RE is an excellent example of that even though the graphical jump wasn't multiple generations it was extremely well done.

I asked the question for a few reasons, and they are most certainly valid reasons. The inclusion of Bioshock was intended to show a game that recieved excellent scores but is also lacking in areas that reviewers seemed to miss.
First of all, I've never played through the single player campaigns of any FPS more than 4 or 5 times, and yes I've played a few FPS in my day. The thing about FPSs that keeps people interested is the multi-player aspect or new maps, etc. Action games...
How many times can you play through Bioshock before you get bored?
I'm curious here, not baiting. It is a FPS with no multiplayer right?

The world has a lot of male gamers who:
1. When playing a Male Avatar can feel badass.
2. When playing a Female Avatar can enjoy the eye-candy.
Either way it's rewarding dude, don't worry.

They might go to $250, but what's stopping Nintendo from dropping to 199.99? or even a killer 149.99. Anyone think the Wii would slow down at those price points this holiday?
