If you read what data they are collecting it really isn't anything illegal.. They collect info from your ps3(like serial numbers, what games you played and for how long), what tv you are using, and if you are using anything in your usb(to check for the usb sticks that jailbreak your ps3 and have hundreds of pirated ps3 games on them).
The only horrible thing I see from these chat logs is the CC info data. If it is sent in plaintext that is bad, and the way the user poste...
Yea I got in touch with my CC companies and bank a little ago and all of them said that I shouldn't worry to much. Pretty sure they already know a bit more than us as to what was leaked(I'm sure Sony sent them more info than us). Pretty much ended up with them saying they will keep a better eye on my accounts, and if any fraudulent charges are made even with the increased security that I would have no trouble disputing them.
So don't go out freaking out and canc...
As others have stated there isn't really 77 million different users on the PSN, and most "real" users don't have their CC numbers on their account also. Plus with all of this news going around and the outage only a handful of people have reported anything being stolen, take into account some people who haven't realized yet....And it seems like only a fraction of accounts have been compromised.
Now, this could mean that who stole the data has not used al...
Better to be safe than sorry. Already contacted my 2 credit card companies about this, going to cancel one of them(expires soon and I don't use it anyway) and get a new card for the other. I took my billing info off when the whole Anonymous stuff started to happen, so I am probably safe. But I would rather spend 15 minutes on the phone getting a new card and canceling the other than seeing thousands of dollars pop up everywhere.
Glad I pulled my CC info off of the PSN a few weeks ago..
Whats next? 10 more articles on here about the PSN being down until Wednesday? 15 more about ti taking until the weekend? Then once they outstay their welcome it will be the PSn will be down for 2 more weeks..
Nobody really knows, unless if you work for Sony and are high enough up to have knowledge of the entire situation. Just sit back, play some single player games, watch Netflix, or even go outside(unless if you live where all the tornadoes have been) and have some fun. ...
Just because one person had this CC info stolen does not mean it was because of the PSN. Now if hundreds or thousands of people were reporting these problems then I could see it being an issue and being tied to the PSN.
Right now this article was simply made for hits and to tarnish Sony even more. It is all based off of a forum post made by someone who said it was possible it was tied to the PSN. Seeing as fanboys for both the ps3 and 360 have made worse things up I will ch...
I don't think that they should "copy" the whole controller playing full games on it. It is a neat idea and all, but it is awfully expensive. just think, the controller will need to be able to run games on it's own. Meaning that it will need a larger battery, it's own graphics cards, memory, processing, etc. Sounds like a $125+ controller, I will pass.
I don't know about MS but surely Sony will release a handheld to go along with the next playstati...
Can people stop with these conspiracy theories... Why would Sony, a business, take down it's own network and store just to "get back" at Anon?
3 major games just released on the ps3, 1 built around MP and is also published by them, so why ruin any strong following from the first week of MP and the increase in sales from friends telling each other to get S4?
Sony also looses millions of dollars with the PS store and all of their other stores of...
Why is the PSN still down if they have Stopped? I doubt they were the only cause for the PSN being down. Japan had another earthquake the night the PSN crashed, so most likely that caused something to be damaged and then it trickled and overloaded the other server hubs.
I agree.. I don't really like Portal games either, but I can see how a lot of people do. The only thing I could see wrong with Portal 2 is re-playability, since after the campaign is finished there isn't a whole lot of stuff to do afterwards.
Either way it is a great game, but for me it doesn't exactly fit my tastes for a video game.
I don't think they are to worried. Most smart phones do play games, but people do not buy them for games but rather for texting, internet, email, videos, camera, etc.
I doubt people buy an Iphone just to game on.. Sony already has their own phone coming out that can play "real" games since it has actual controls, and the market that is interested in a DS or a psp/NGP won't go out and buy a cellphone to get their gaming fix in.
However, the...
I don't see why we people are so damn focused on graphics. I'll admit I love looking at nice scenery and enjoy good graphics, but it does not make or break a game if the graphics are just "standard".
Good gameplay and a plot makes good games, followed by graphics. I don't see why we need to shell out another $500 before 2013/14 just to get a bit of an upgrade that by 2015 will be "outdated". Games look good enough as they are right now(espec...
How to win at Gears of War 3.......
Kill the enemy before they kill you! Duh, same with every game.
I doubt it is Anonymous since usually they spout off a ton of articles and news everywhere saying they are hurting Sony. But this time they have did little besides their blatant attempt at taking people's CC info.
I would bet on it being more related to the earthquake situation than hackers, since Japan had another earthquake early this morning. This caused the nuclear reactor near Fukushima to become even more unstable and they declared an area of 10 square miles illega...
Sony's websites are tied to the PSN.. The PSN/Qriocity are all one network, so if one is hacked or goes down then the whole system can follow if it is something major.

I doubt it is Anonymous because we would be seeing about 10 million stories about how they are ruining the PSN, plus they already said they didn't want to hurt the PSN users again.
I remember a few years back something like this happened before for about a week when they were "updating" the servers, etc. and then later in the year we had a huge firmware update. Let's hope that it is the case this time, maybe they are implementing Steam more into the PSN?
Im not to surprised if this was real actually real, I have had 1 teacher cancel class due to her wanting to go see some performance in NY. Another cancel it since he wanted to sleep in, and finally one cancel due to the majority of our class actually passing a major test(majority of the students were idiots).
College teachers can get away with a lot when it comes to canceling, overall it doesn't really effect much as long as they still give a mid-term and final exam.
They should be worried about people who have already purchased it complaining about Migraines and other problems even after 5 minutes of playing 3D then about unsold units. It would damage their sales a lot more if people start telling all of their friends wanting one to not get it due to the horrible issues a lot have been having with the 3D.
They are fighting for our personal information so they can steal money... They may have started out after Sony, but if you put millions of people's CC/debit card numbers infront of them with all of their information and you are a hacker you will take it and use it.
