The art style looks soooo damn nice.
It has become an ‘Uncharted wannabe,’ you’re certainly right about that. And let’s not pretend Uncharted is a perfect game, with its shallow gun fights, and button bashing action sequences slotted in every possible way. Sure, you get a good puzzle every now and again, but it’s pretty formulaic. I guess that sounds like Tomb Raider these days…
Holding today’s ‘teenage’, instant gratification orientated player’s attention with some kind of ‘cognitive flow’ does seem to be the main attraction for video game developers - this and the tried and tested ‘reward and recognition’ mentality of ‘the level up’ model. As for the senseless killing, well, I feel like that represents the total antithesis of what Lara Croft was originally about.
Yeah, I agree, being stuck for weeks isn’t exactly fun, but there’s definitely a difficulty aspect missing in most games these days. And there’s nothing wrong with rose-tinted nostalgia spectacles! I’m leaving my pair where they are!
I’m really suspicious of Square Enix at the moment; they seem to want to package their games in some weird and wonderful ways. Generally speaking though, delays are usually a good thing, it seems.
A bit too relaxing, perhaps? It’s quite easy to sink hours in to their games =P
I must have completed 1% of the game so far. The scavenging for building materials is just too tempting. I’m always in need of that next generator, or bed, or table, or heavy machine gun turret. It’s ruining my life...
The Elder Scrolls is always a world I get lost in, although the online version was terrible.
Interesting, I wonder what they’ve got planned for us.
Another big title or a HD remake.
=P
A dwindling MMO, several expansions, merchandise, novels and a competitive card game. There’s only so much you can milk from the World of Warcraft franchise, I feel. It will be interesting to see what they’re going to do next.
Nothing like a cathartic murderous rampage on Grand Theft Auto…
Nintendo are missing a trick when it comes to Samus Aran. I guess it’s no different when it comes to Crash Bandicoot, though.
So many Star Wars games have been cancelled for one reason or another...
I really liked Dishonoured, but I didn’t see any point in buying the definitive edition for PS4 at all.
Unfortunately, I think you reap what you sow. I remember back to Microsoft’s awful marketing and PR when they were about to release the Xbox One. I think a lot of Xbox 360 fans jumped ship early on. I also don’t think Halo can sustain a console for three generations. Sony has taken more risks when it comes to publishing games. Sure, they get criticised for some of them, but I’d rather see a progressive strategy. PSN’s community is awful though, and I don’t like playing online when it comes to...
I felt it up in the shop when I first saw it and it felt kind of soft and niccce. So yeah, I don’t think it was woven on a medieval loom like most xmas jumpers.
I know, right? I need this in my life.
I love karaoke but I'm not sure about this one =P
I'm feeling like the secrecy behind The Last Guardian only adds to the mythology surrounding the game. It's like a really long winded marketing strategy or something =P
You’re sure right about that. I supposed all media goes through this at some point. It’s a historical thing. Look at cinema and music. There once was a time they wanted to censor Elvis Presley's hips...
