I think the one from the early 2000's was exceptionally well done, nearly flawless in design and execution. I bought the PC version of this one, but haven't played it through yet.
most people (not all, but most) already have Windows of some sort, it's not exclusive to the purpose of gaming, and many maybe not even for gaming at all, it comes with almost any computer already (well played on MS's part I suppose). you can get a brand new one on Amazon still for less than $100, and they have accessories there too. Ebay is an option, but when I looked, the only ones new were much more than $100, and used ones are iffy, IMO.

for your own views, but my own put the likelihood of a 360 failure/defect over a PS3 failure/defect to be of more weight than the jump in potential costs to repair...which is to say, my own view is that I treasure the much higher reliability over the variable carrying the lower costs. For every 4 failures of 360, you mathematically could argue that's at most 1 repair for a PS3....I feel statistically it's cheaper because of frequency and likelihood, but I see you feel differently.
if it's built well, it will last for more than a few years (3 being a prime example of a few), three years is a pathetic time frame for investing so much...whether any company builds it to last forever or not. that there is a "North American" version, sometimes called NTSC/region 1/NA depending on media, and then there's "European" or sometimes called PAL or "International" or "EU"...the version intended for North American is plain US English, and the "International" is complicated with many/several language options...
