Personally I blame this generation's journalism. Specifically when these so-called journalists let their personal feelings dictate their objectivity of their work. In other words, it's the fanboy journalists at every level (from the mainstream to the obscure) that is ruining gaming.
It does make some interesting reading though.
Which is why Metacritic shouldn't be taken so seriously. It's not as accurate as some people make it out to be. Just the fact that the review sites for each game released aren't the same tells you something, even for games on the same platform.
