Now the controller, I had no issues with the GC controller. I liked it & enjoyed using it, I remember playing sport titles like nba 2k3 on it & having a blast. Again, I’m not saying it failed because it was a technically bad controller that had latency issues or was uncomfortable to hold. Who’s mentioning gimmicks? I’m talking consoles. Was motion controls a gimmick? Don’t know don’t care. And, its not worth comparing to media playback in other consoles. The point I ‘m making is Nintendo’s decisions are against the grain & mostly it does NOT work out for them. Their systems end up being less compelling. GameCube showed what happens when you make a powerful system for mature games ( killer 7, RE4, eternal darkness) but can't let go of the kiddie appeal and design the thing like a purple lunch box with handle, to go up against a sleek looking ps2 that looks right at home next to your audio visual equipment in your home theatre.

No they're not! And neither are the PS Plus games for that matter.
We already pay for expensive consoles. We pay for expensive games. We pay for expensive internet packages. These "free" games are a sorry attempt to pull the wool over our eyes to the fact that they hold the multiplayer player portion off our games hostage behind this paywall/cash grab. And we have MS to thank for bringing this model to consoles. And Sony abusing it price increases.
