13.5 million PS4s shipped by 30 Sep 14. Probably up to about 17 million shipped by now.

There is actually more games on PS4 than Xbox One at the moment and more in development. There is also many more exclusives on PS4 in the first half of 2015 so Sony will continue their domination after Xmas.

PS4 having a much bigger install base and game sales makes third party developers more keen to make games on PS4 than Xbox One because there is more money to be made.

Not a horror game.

I can see PS4 sales being high over most of its life cycle. There won't be a reason to replace it in a hurry.

I reckon about a 10 year life cycle but with a new console coming out in about 7 years. Regarding graphics, I think the use of compute will much improve PS4 exclusives graphics over time by putting some tasks from the CPU to the GPU.

Good article. I thought 2014 was a bit lacklustre but 2015 is looking to be amazing with heaps of multiplats and exclusives coming to Xbox One and PS4.

Yep, there is a lot of promising indies coming, Ori and the Blind Forest, WiLD, Wander, No Mans Sky to name a few. So refreshing compared to many of the generic AAA titles.

Nice to see comments like these. The game industry nowadays seems to mostly be about spin, over promising and under delivering.

Will be Sony to lead sales for Black Friday. It not just about late this year though. People know that 2015 will be huge for PS4 exclusives and console exclusives. For the first half of 2015, The Order 1886, Bloodborne, MLB 15: The Show, Planetside 2, Wander, SNOW and Ratchet and Clank. Maybe even No Man's Sky, WiLD, The Tomorrow Children, The Witness or Rime. Or one of the unannounced AAA exclusives.

What does Xbox One have in the first half? Ori and the Blind Forest an...

A lot of potential that's for sure. The upcoming exclusives and console exclusives look pretty incredible and hopefully the dualshock 4 features start getting properly utilised. Releasing a controller with better battery life would also be nice. GTA 5 has shown what the controller is capable of. I'd like to also see exclusive games use compute to improve graphics. The Tomorrow Children is probably the first game to fully utilise it.

I think Sony still have some arrogance about them and have shown signs of anti-consumer behaviour. Some as follows:
- 2013 PS4 E3 unveil of paying for online gaming via PS+. It was just added to a slide during the presentation and nothing was said or explained about it. Instead, there was speculation in the media after the event and Sony only then clarified. Very poor.
- Planetside 2 was a launch window game which now won't be out until 2015. This title was obviously neve...

Funny how you didn't put a link to the article. Almost every multiplatform game has superior graphics on PS4 so it is obvious that PS4 is more powerful.

Lots of exclusives coming from Sony but how many will be delayed to 2016? Bloodborne, The Order 1886, Driveclub and Planetside 2 all had delays. Hopefully PS4 has a steller 2015.

Was originally to be released in the PS4 launch window so yet another game with a massive delay. I am expecting a release in the second quarter of 2015 after the beta late this year.

I reckon PS4 will go close to 20 million sold by the end of 2014 and close to 15 million for the year. First half of 2015 should be awesome for exclusives and console exclusives: The Order 1886, Bloodborne, MLB 15: The Show, Planetside 2, Wander, SNOW and Ratchet and Clank. Likely more to be announced.

The full game was never going to be released for free for PS+ members, only a cut down version.

Wrong, the full game was never going to be a free game for PS+ members. The PS+ version was always going to be cut down. However, the developer did say that this version was only going to be minus 'a few cars and tracks' which is flat out wrong. I do think the game has been a fiasco though.

First half of 2015 seems pretty barren for Xbox One exclusives compared to PS4. That's because Sony spaces out exclusives during the year whereas Microsoft has long periods of no exclusive releases. How many exclusives were released between Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive?

Will be interesting to see how Xbox One sales hold up after Xmas. Ori and the Blind Forest has been delayed so this will beef up the Xbox One lineup, along with Screamride, in the first quarter of 2015.

In the first quarter of 2015, Sony will have exclusives and console exclusives The Order 1886, Bloodborne, SNOW, MLB 15: The Show and Wander and perhaps also Planetside 2 and Ratchet and Clank.
