I wouldn't say they are "paid", but the relationship between reviewer and publisher should definitely come under the microscope. Sometimes a friendship is just as inappropriate as money is.
Old news. By about 3 months.
"Journalism" is actually a subjective term with no one refined definition. Anyone can be a journalist as long as they're INFORMING. The internet provides the platform.
It's up to readers to determine what is good and what isn't. By N4G's system, you commenting on this, despite the comment's negativity, suggests the article is "sharable", or interesting, which in turn enhances the article's amplification.

The Last Guardian and a new Crash Bandicoot game.
ZOMG!
*Thinks submission is unworthy of N4G promotion
*Comments on it anyway and helps improve its promotion standing
This article is sexist.
LOL JK, it's just silly.
But also a little sexist.
I'm actually getting a little worried by the deluge of Leftist commentators in the games media. These "progressive" thinkers want us all to subscribe to some fantasy of equality in which we can't portray a certain demographic in any way other than a way that fits their own determined understandings of appearance and sexuality.
Articles like this are dangerous. The minority of people that find this trailer sexist happen to be the ones with the loudest voices,...
Yeah, I think so too!
I think the announcement by Google that cloud gaming is coming to Google TV is an interesting step forward for that market. There seems to be a lot of different things happening all at once, and I can't imagine Microsoft upgrading power over adaptability of hardware, making a console that is affordable, accessible and able to sustain changes and threats. Sony's sentiment at CES appears to be, "4K is our future: this is what's next", and they seem to be banking A LOT on d...
Also consider that sale figures generally refer to sell-in figures, meaning Sony could very well have shipped their 77 millionth console to retailers in the Christmas period.
It's not rocket science, folks!
I think it's important to note that this article clearly states it's a report, and it's not official numbers from Sony.
This. Definitely not TMZ. Kotaku at least has substance 99% of the time.
For anyone sticking up for Kotaku, the site's editor actually changed the headline and admitted it was in poor taste and unnecessary.
That's basically admitting that they were wrong.
That said, it's a storm in a teacup. I personally wouldn't have changed the headline if I were the editor. If Kamiya wanted to sue for defamation, the fact Kotaku changed the headline would basically be an admittance of guilt.
You make your bed,...
I thought the exact same thing. I was born in 86 but am definitely a "90s" kid, so I don't know what the reviewer is on about, because Vice City is my favourite game of all time.
"According to VGChartz"
Made me LOL
My thoughts on the game's story:
The game’s story appears to be its weakest aspect. Devil May Cry is and always has been about gothic fantastical narrative, not social commentary. I’m not sure what Ninja Theory is trying to achieve with the game’s plot, but it confuses me into thinking that Dante is more a freedom fighter battling the evils of capitalism than he is a demon warrior saving the human race from ultimate destruction.

I didn't mind the LOST game at all. It was VERY short but good fodder for LOST fans. Looked great too, and had the feel of the TV show.
