It was a decent shooter to fill the gaps, and the multiplayer was fun for like 10 minutes.
I am of the opinion that KZ1 was a lot better than 2, the guns just felt a lot better; which is generally the thing that makes an FPS good.
The only recent FPSs to have decent feeling guns are CoD (all of them), BF3 and Killing Floor. Other FPSs seem to be programmed on a work-to-rule by outsourced software developers rather than actual game programmers >_<
The NEW FF series is hated these days.

Though I'm not rushing out to get Gears 3, I played the other 2 and they were decent.

I hated 9. 10 was brilliant though, just wish I could have played it with subtitles rather than an annoying dub. A lot of people hated 10, probably because of the rubbish voices.
I would agree that 7 is a bit overrated but only because a lot of people feel afraid to admit that they don't think it's the best because they feel that everybody else thinks its the best. I thought 8 was the best for ages because it was the first one I played but since then I have come around to the ...
ff1 - 10 are all fantastic games.
12 was good in some other ways but generally failed.
Personally, I genuinely can't decide if I prefer 7, 8 or 10.
On another note Lost Odyssey is amazing and worth mentioning because it is the genuine FF replacement for this gen, almost as good as ff7,8 or 10. If I ever buy a nextbox it will be for LO2 (M$ own the IP). If you deleted FF13 from existance and renamed LO to FF13 then FF13 would be heralded as a great...

I know loads of people who are excited about Vita, more than any previous handheld launch I can remember. So give it time.

Yeah. And imho PS1 and PS2 had better libraries than the PS3 (or 360 or Wii).
The 'AAA or bust cycle' as you put it is a massive problem. It basically highlights, in one statement, what is wrong with the console market. LOADS of great developers have had to close their doors this gen because of it, and games overall have suffered massively.
Just keep making more games that aren't crappy console ports and more people will be willing to pay for them.
Of all the companies to chase after pirates, CDPR are the most deserving (along with tripwire). If it was say... EA, I would pirate all of their games that I don't want to play anyway just to be annoying.
