This game run silky smooth for me but thats besides the point. Witcher 2 is a hardcore PC RPG and I can't imagine anyone who owns this game playing on a 4:3 monitor.
Never. Ever. EVER buy new releases from Steam. Anytime you buy a third party game from them, particularly a new third party game, you're bound to get screwed by their completely idiotic patching system.
Now unless it's an old game on sale or a Steam exclusive I tend to avoid Steam like the plague. I buy all my new games from D2D. They're just as cheap and I own my games free and clear without having to deal with any of Steam's stupid bullshit.

There isn't a 4.8 Ghz CPU out there unless you overclock. In terms of modern CPUs, Ghz isn't an end all performance indicator.
