A subscription is understandable, but subscribers should be able to keep playing their free monthly games so long as they maintain their subscription.

Hard to say at this point but I doubt it. It has an inferior value proposition compared to the competition.

What they should do is offer a pro version that does away with the joycons, and screen. You get a pro controller(that should've been the standard one). A dedicated home console with power comparable to that of XBONE and PS4, physical media playback and ethernet port and sell it at the price of a base XBONE or PS4. That would be much more compelling than the over p...

This is why it's hard to get excited by scorpio. There aren't any games worth spending that kind of money over. Better off upgrading my computer. It sucks about scalebound though. I had a friend that was really looking forward to it.

I wouldn't say it's gimmicky. It's gimmick actually has a lot of utility. Personally, I don't game when I'm out. My friends don't either, so its ability to take games everywhere with you doesn't appeal to me. That said I am interested. It just depends on third party support, region locking, online and price.

Also, I'd really like to see Nintendo take more risks with new IPs.

Devs are in a tough spot though. The development of the games we love has become more expensive, but a lot of gamers don't want to pay more. I can understand where gamers a coming from, but honestly something has to give.

Also, the age where devs just make a game and release it with no post launch support are over.

Personally, I'd like to see the focus placed more on game mechanics and design rather than visulas and cinematic story telling. The so...

Ugh That really isn't much different though.

BVS is a fine film though. The extended cut improves on the movie a lot. For example, Lois's story arch is a lot more fleshed out... It's a well put together geo-political thriller in its own right.

The other scenes put back in allow the movie to flow better over all, add story, character beats and explore themes more effectively. I don't see how extending the knightmare scene would have added ...

It's just awesome. A lot of devs should learn from it's level design and combat mechanics. It's just exhilirating to play. The amount of strategies players can adopt in battling the hordes of hell makes every encounter unique and wholly engaging.

Like making the encounters in singleplayer actually fun and engaging like in Doom?

All the encounters in COD are boring thanks to it's crappy AI and level design that hasn't changed since the first COD.

SJW don't have legit reasons though. People who create content don't owe anybody anything. To think that anything should represent anybody, let alone everybody is insane. You can't say that games promote rape culture on one hand then say it isn't the same with violence. The whole thing is bull crap to begin with. This argument that it wouldn't be an issue if they included men is a load of bull.

These games already KNOW what they are. They don't need ...

As an asian, I'm just rolling my eyes. You can't claim to be both inclusive while maintaining historical accuracy.

Is there even a point when theres a new game coming out next year? They missed the boat because they wanted to try and capitalise on the highly overrated Force Awakens movie.

Not that I didn't enjoy it, but it was a retread of A New Hope and relied heavily on nostalgia. Pretty shallow movie otherwise.

I don't think multiplayer only games need single player. Multiplayer games just need more content and features to be compelling. They should allow gamers to use their consoles as dedicated servers. If I remember correctly, WarHawk on PS3 did this. MP only games shouldn't be beholden to whether the publisher keeps servers on.

There should be features like bots, split screen and support for content creation to keep things fresh.

Nothing wrong with h...

Announcement of scorpio and the fact they're not enforcing some kind of standard for VR was very telling. They're just throwing in the towel, passing the buck and focusing on Win10.

There's no point in getting a scorpio. The content isn't compelling. Enthusiasts are better off upgrading their PC and sticking with distribution services like steam and GOG.

I just don't see Scorpio appealing to anyone but the xbox faithful.

Anyone notice how the last Automata she fought looked like an ATAC from the killzone games? Looks like a shared universe.

The orchestra was awesome. Love how they used it for comical effect too.

A lot of responses here are just completely reductive and absurd.

Narrative is only one way that any medium can communicate to it's audience. What makes games different and what can make games more than just retreads of narratives found in books and (mainstream) film is that they can break away from the restrictions of narrative. I doubt games will even push the boundaries of narrative given how sensitive and politically correct people are. Vast majority of people just ...

Not to knock narratives in games, but none of them have been unique. I can read and I do admire cinema and what it does and can do as an artistic medium. So if I want something that I'm not getting in games, I'm happy seeking it elsewhere. I just don't think games as a form of art or entertainment medium have to limit themselves and be beholden to movie standards because reasons. Art shouldn't seek validation and it's why I find it funny when someone asks what spielberg or...

I'd be impressed if they did something that wasn't so narrative focused. Love the Uncharted series and TLOU, but something that is very different from those games would be welcomed.

Yes. Doom doesn't do anything revolutionary per se. But while other FPS games are trying to ram some stupid story down your throat simply to check off a box because even though you just kill everything on screen, the game supposedly is about something.

Doom just delivers awesome gameplay, level design and replayability that many modern shooters just can't touch.

Doom knows precisely what it is. It isn't ashamed of it. That means it's very ...

What a stupid article. If you want games to be taken seriously then people should accept the medium for what it is and git gud. Start taking it seriously. Accept games on their terms. That's what people do with art.

There needs to be more games like Doom and dark souls that focus on skill and fun. Nothing wrong with that. Some people are just not going to be as good as others.

If you don't like it there are already plenty games like assassins cre...
