@Postedup ... You do realize they have never sold hardware at a loss until the the Wii U? Even with low sales of the N64 and Gamecube they made money and were successful hence their massive cash reserve.
People also fail to mention that the software attachment rate during the N64 and Gamecube era was really high ... even tho they didnt sell tons of console units they still pushed games...

You can buy a Wii U now with 2 games , Wii party U + Wii remote, and a pro controller for less than the cost of just a ps4...
250 vs 300 isnt going to make a substantial difference (you are already getting that value with bundles)... What makes a bigger difference is proper marketing and Games... Nintendo doesnt need to keep dropping price .. it needs to show people ...

Historically speaking the most powerful console doesn't win the generation ... the PS4 is amazing on paper and yes I bought one .. But everyone would by lying if anything outside of resogun has impressed them. The launch lineup of games arent that great and are marginal improvemen...

I apologize.. I simply meant that with better specs, smaller form factor, and an internal power supply sony managd to keep the heat factor Iow without forcing us to have a huge power brick.
I have a 360 and you would be lying if you didnt say that brick wasn't annoying. . I know some people have a lot of space and it doesn't matter. But it is just easier to manage and more organized not having a huge power brick behind your tv when you have other consoles a receiver ...
You do realize bigger box and bigger power brick take up way more space in the limited space most people have in their media centers??
Id take huge internal power brick over an external one any day of the week ...
Lets not forget the ps4 has a better cpu / gpu / and faster ram ... WHich means the cooling inside the machine is much better as well.
I had to turn controller down a little because default volume on the controller is jacked all the way up.
I was literally amazed at how good the sound was.... This game should release on PC it would easily look and sound amazing.
On a side note Warframe is trash ... they could make that game on previous gen.. If you turn the brightness up at all the game starts to look purple.
Friend brought his ps4 over and we played thru this game ... Looks amazing .. but that isnt what impressed me the most.. The sound in this game is really freaking good .. I have a pretty good 5.1 setup with a beast subwoofer and this game really pushed my system.
There are TONS of people who bought them with the intention to sell them ... Yes sony makes all the money from the sales and dont care who buys them... But if a large part of that million is going to stay in boxes and not attach any software to them it could hurt them in the long run ...
My point is YES that number is impressive .. but it might not reflect actual console base... A lot of people bought them to make money off them that is a FACT... I am more interested with pos...
One thing to take into consideration is all the scalpers who bought them to try and sell off if supply was low. Still a win for Sony since making money is making money. I just wonder what the tend will be like post Xmas and how many tree being used and not being sat on for Xmas and black Friday scalping.

The lag that I get in Wii Sports club in some matches is insane ... This is most likely the key reason Nintendo does not include online in most its games... Lag kills the experience...
To be honest the only launch game that looks great and plays really good for the X1 is Forza... Outside of that I have played and demoed the other games and they are far from impressive. Killer Instinct looks fun but the graphics are washed out and VERY grainy... Lococycle has frame issues and looks like a game made for the 360... Dead Rising 3 has frame issues and the graphics are very grainy (gameplay is great) ... Ryse looks great but is a very pedestrian game.

You dont realize how nice 1080 with 60fps is until you get a gaming rig and play most all your games like that. Anyone saying a game is fine at 30fps is lying to themselves.

But you have to be honest with yourself ... regardless of how good a game Mario 3d World is (I think it looks amazing) .. It isn't going to be as successful as Nintendo wants it to be releasing on the same day as the X1... especially with the ps4 releasing a week prior...

I dont believe true 720P was done much .. the resolution of most 720 games was not 1280 by 720 in the last gen .. I was under the impression they short changed it and used 880 by 720 upscaled.
In my mind MSFT did what Nintendo should have done. Make a system that is just powerful enough to be next gen but appeal to everyone by leveraging your exclusives... And using something interesting (kinect) other than specs to make you different.
The real question is if the Wii U had equivalent or similar specs to the x1 would it have sold better or been in the game?

I think Iwata has good ideas.. but his execution is just God awful.... I love Nintendo and all but I think a collective of people on these forums could have made the Wii U a success with just a few of our ideas.
I will rephrase what I said previously in error .. Nintendo's situation is almost the reverse of what Sony's is. WiiU is selling bad and needs games ... Vita is selling bad and needs games (both are doing marginally better)... 3DS is selling like crazy... PS4 is selling like crazy....
Sony has been losing money on the VITA since almost 3Ds launch ...Nintendo has only been losing money on the WiiU since launch roughly 1 year...
