I want to like this game, I really do, but the more I see it, the less I want it. Honestly, even if there was no monthly fee, I wouldn't pay $60 for this game.
I like the 1st person view for an MMO though.
Personally, I think all these delays are because the publishers want to make more money. They're waiting for PS4 sales to slow down. Why release your game now, with a userbase of about 5 mil, when you can release your game a little later with a much larger userbase.
All these delays can't be coincidence, especially when PS4 is so easy to develop for.
My friend loves Skyrim. Got a beta key a while ago for ESO, hated it. Everyone else seems to hate it. But "journalists" and "reviewers" seem to like it. I don't think it looks very impressive at all either. And then there's the monthly fee.
I'm starting to automatically believe the opposite of whatever (big) journalists and reviewers say.
I'm not sure I agree about those fees (the amount, not whether they exist) as I'm not familiar enough with the industry.
I doubt that we're getting sequels because that's what people want. We're getting sequels because
A) They're generally cheaper to make, as you already have an engine (if it's in-house), story/canon, characters, world, assets that can be reused, etc
B) There's less risk involved in making a se...
I don't think it's that simple. We're still paying ~$60 for a game, but that one game is also selling millions more than previous generations. More people are playing games, which means more sales (generally), which balances out the increased development costs.
Also, digital sales are rising, too. Publishers make a lot more profit off of a digital sale than they do a retail sale. Then there's DLCs, remakes, special editions, etc. If they weren't making eno...
"...according to vgchartz".
hahaha
^^^ This. Why don't pubs get it?
I still don't want this game. Even if there's extra maps, 1080p/60fps, extra mechs, etc, on PS4 version. Still don't want it. Xbox and PC can keep it.
I saw that. Looks interesting. Keeping an eye on it.
Who's approving this crap?
Titanfall will sell good, it's on 3 platforms. Second Son will sell good because it looks like an awesome game. But this is comparing apples to oranges. This is flamebait.
Off Topic: Am I the only one who automatically disagrees whenever I see "Sony fanboy" in the first sentence of a comment?
Was about to mention those exact 2 games. I was going to say that if Rare actually made a LEGIT Banjo and Conker sequel, I'd be tempted to buy an XBox One just for those 2 games (after several price cuts and assuming they don't bring back DRM). Same goes for WiiU, Nintendo really needs to buy Rare back. They're just rotting away at Microsoft.
I hate to agree with him, but I think he's right. For now, the vast majority of Steam games are on Windows. Of course, you could just install Windows to a Steambox, but then you might as well just get a PC.
I hope more games get ported to Linux though. The only reason I keep Windows around is for emulators (which Linux has too, just not as good) and Steam.
No. Just no.
Good read, thank you for the article.
I was a little skeptical at first, but the more I see of this game the more I want it. Looking better and better.
No, you're definitely not the only one. It reminds me FAR too much of COD for me to care. And the whole thing with the bots just sounds lazy.
I agree with the first 3. But anyone who would buy an Xbox One for Halo either already has, or is planning to. And I don't think console gamers are into MOBAs. Maybe I'm wrong, though.
I really like where Sony is going with these ads. And I love that underwater phone and MP3 player.
Which is just one more reason why I greatly prefer PS4.
