lol, demon's souls had this nailed perfectly. you could pull plug out of ps3 and restart game. your save continues exactly where you pulled the plug.
the only problem with custom save is duping. imagine this.
- i save
- i connect into your game
- i drop you all my items
- i reload and here there are all my items as i never dropped them
this just calls the fact that every invasion (even against level 1) will be freaking full...
main problem. dupe, load last save
now try to invade, where everyone uses +5 sword at level 1.
it loses all diversity multiplayer wise and the fact they can reload will set everybody to unplug when losing, not just 70% like in ds. i couldn't care less about single player. it is damn good, yes... but... not good enough to literally play it for 1500+ hours like i did with ds. off course, penalty system like 5 levels down for unplug could fix this easy. ever...

you could use some brain ticker enhancement your self to recognize sarcasm. and off course they won't do that as they are too much depending on movie side of revenue.

when i accidentally killed Stockpile Thomas almost at the start of NG7+ was probably my most exhilarating experience ever. and there was no returning back.
beside the fact people will dupe like crazy. drop weapons, items and reload... makes game kinda pointless

lag switches, glitching and all round cheating was present before hack... look how much sony did to avoid it after all the whining people used to do before hack. zero, zilch, nothing. they didn't even care.
you can simply detect lag switch because network often abruptly disconnects one side of the cable.

YLD or Ubuntu is NOT linux. it is software distribution based on linux kernel. linux is only kernel and nothing with graphics. xorg is just cherry on top to provide you with graphic interface. while office and other software serve as applications for xorg
do you think linux servers run with graphic server enabled? or math crunchers? or cluster clients? cell is whole lot more powerful in some aspects...
sony does that better than hackers ever would. i know at least 10 people they lost in last year. all people with >50 games, me included. beside the fact, that i fell dumb now for recommending ps3 as home device to whole lot of people.

actually, true to some extent. when i was explaining this to friend from australia, he tested his network. he couldn't get decent connection with server that was 100km away. even more problematic was network jitter for him. yea, i kinda forgot i get really decent network here, while some world parts don't
crappy upload rates aren't. even minimal connection has more than enough upload to cover the game needs.

i respect those guys, they do what they believe in. i would like to have dedication like that. all i could do in my anger about OtherOS was playing gandhi approach and boycott sony. not spending 1cent on that company in my life after the fact. if there will be some good game, i'll just wait to get used one so they earn nothing
