I know frostbite is well threaded but most engines are not. Unity is not. I don't think cryengine is or UDK. How does it perform worse as a whole if it has better components?
Threading an engine is a very expensive process and pretty much calls for a rewrite to make sure everything is thread safe. Most companies don't really want to spend a load of money on this.
The CPU in this steambox beats the quad core jaguar and will most likely outperform the console jaguar because it has a lower clock speed and engines are not optimized around this yet. In the future however I hope we will see a push on multithreading which we can kind of see with Planetside 2 and a few other games.

Ermm yes they are. Console gamers and facts... smh.

Most games do not use more than 2gb of VRAM when maxed out. and in that case DDR3 swapping will begin. Not ideal but I would take 2gb of GDDR5 + 8GB DDR3 over just graphics memory due to the latency vs bandwidth issues. More than likely we will just see texture streaming come into play on the few games that use more than this.
This graphics card is not just more powerful on paper. In benchmarks it beats the PS4 and Xbone performance on BF4 and other games. 1080p 60fps Ultra s...
Hate? Where did you get that from?
The PC community is just built to be more mature as servers are hosted by small groups of people who want people to join there server so they kick/ban these people. There are some exceptions though such as valve games (excluding l4d for some reason) and MOBAs.
And Sony and MS decide what you play on consoles.
if Steam is DRM then so is Xbox live and PSN. It is just a license attached to your account which is done for digital games on all three of these platforms. Valve are working on a new licensing system that should fix the offline mode not being infinite for some people.

Did EA not say that they make more money from PC than consoles?
I don't think it is fair to show PC vs next gen as the PC will destroy it in sales due to a much bigger install base.
EA Q1 2012 - 360 > PC > PS3
"PC delivered $276 million, the Xbox 360 $292 million and the PS3 $267 million."
They also shared digital sales where PC trumps all consoles combined

No, some of us just have a really hard time with a controller. I do not play console FPS games online because I will be slaughtered. If they allowed me to use a mouse and keyboard I would enjoy that part of the game.
I can't even get past the bit with the helmeted soldiers in Uncharted 3 because I am really bad with the controller.
That's the Christmas spirit /s
Why would they move to consoles when they make much more money on PC?
I am just a hobbyist game dev and I do these things, any major game dev will probably have multiple backup solutions and version control systems.
I hope you were not trying to argue a point there.
Read the article, it clearly shows what the price includes.
I will pick up Ni No Kuni for that price, all I am waiting for now is black flag to go on sale on Steam.
When someone mentions Nvidia they are obviously talking about PC.
@PudgeySan, I think he is talking about the PC version in which case they create a profile for the game and release it in the drivers which does improve performance.
Yer the PC to Console price difference in the UK is insane. I wonder why it is such a big gap compared to other countries.
That is not enough. MB means megabyte. 5MB = 40mbps. You need a 40mbps connection speed to meet the recommendation.
