The Alpha was up for such a little amount of time, I'm really looking forward to getting hands on with the Beta, and seeing what changes they've made! I'm hoping they allow the ability to hijack vehicles, as that's my main gripe against the game.

I'm sorry Fish, but you are absolutely wrong on this. This is literally free advertising, publishers don't CHARGE people to put up advertisements on their sites, it's literally the exact opposite. Yes, a story can be spoiled if you watch a full gameplay of the entire game, but I think I speak for most, when I say most people would RATHER NOT even have the story spoilers in place. I've bought several games based on impressions from youtubers, and as a youtuber myself, I've ...

This article wasn't meant to be a competition between the two companies, but rather, a look at how they can improve their own show, and get people energized about supporting Sony. I think we all win in the end, especially considering that these companies are in direct competition with each other, but I think E3 is more about how we can be excited about what both of them are doing to be better than their former selves.

That would indeed be hilarious! And also a great value proposition, I hadn't even considered that one!

Not winning in the sense of fanboy wars, but rather, winning in terms of being awesome. More in line with saying "Wow, this is a win" or "Damn, good job, points for being awesome". Article and video is not intended to create division, but rather celebrate how they can even further improve. It's why the title is "Win at E3" Rather than "Win E3". A subtle difference, but important ^_^

Glad you say that. Both my reviews, and now Rev3 Games's reviews are like that, not to mention Kotaku. Eventually, other major outlets will catch on to how poisonous review scores are.

Still no option for faster aiming. I hate not being able to keep up with people I know damned well I should be able to just shoot >_<

I hate to sound like "a hater" but I'd have to agree with you. None of the claims written here are backed up by any substantial supporting statements. "It just seems to be the same rehashed stuff, what we need is a new game with brand new ideas that feels fresh not a re- textured game." What, in the footage they've shown, makes it seem "rehashed" or "retextured"?

Why was this article approved, but an article my colleague has wr...

Are you at all hopeful we'll see a dramatic change?

Agreed, I'm eager to see how this pans out in Multiplayer, and how they balance those new features.

Ooh, goodie. Screenshots from footage we already saw -_- Damnit Ubisoft!

Right. But when considering reviews, the review is only a reflection of what that one person perceives. A review, in it's very nature, is one's opinion of a game. If the reviewer, who sometimes goes out of pocket for the game, feels that there isn't enough value proposition, that's still a part of the process in evaluating the game.

Agreed. In certain instances, it should be a part of the conversation, but not an anchor to base all opinions on. Whether it's a good/enjoyable experience comes first!

Part of the pros and cons is evaluating what the end user gets out of the experience. That is in relation to the cost of said product, vs perceived value.

Yes, games are competing for gamers' time and money. If the game isn't worthy of the price it asks, then it should be mentioned in the review. It's one of the biggest reasons I don't use a traditional number scale for my reviews.

*edit* Take The Elder Scrolls Online for example. I didn't play the game, so I can't speak on personal experience, but most people feel that the game is fairly generic in it's offering as an MMO, and as an Elder Scrolls g...

TLOU is an anomaly, the only thing that game needed to improve upon in my opinion is it's aiming/camera sensitivity. Turning is sometimes too slow, but it's basically a masterpiece. There were other games that came out that set the bar higher too, but I think a reason so many people hark back to those days is because of the nostalgia that went along with it, and the fact that games weren't really 3D until playstation and n64 released. And that was literally a whole new dimension f...
