It found it to have good combat, a boring story, and become very repetitive after the first playthrough. If I do buy this collection, I'll be skipping Birth by Sleep.
It will take a long time for IGN to live this down. Not like many people took them seriously before anyway.
Regardless, that still doesn't mean IGN should have put "officially cancelled" in the title of the article. It can't be official unless the company actually announces it.
Yeah, and IGN clearly jumped the gun. Sony has confirmed it's not cancelled.
This is getting pretty annoying. People speculate every year because Last Guardian doesn't make an appearance at E3 that it must be cancelled. And every time a Sony exec has to confirm it is still happening. Hopefully they don't ask a Japanese exec again and have something lost in translation.
Infamous is a western series, so it's not going to be a system seller in Japan. I have no idea why a game journalist thought it would be.
VII has already been localized (even though it may have been called "Dragon Warrior VII"). As for X, the Wii U does not have a large userbase, let alone a thriving DQ fanbase to justify making US servers for it.
I wonder if he's doing some stat-tracking on this game. In a few weeks, he'll release a depressing statistic that only 20% of players bothered to finish the game.
@MASTER_RAIDEN: Yet, "writing off an entire article after only reading the headline" is pretty much N4G in a nutshell.
You got few agrees/disagrees because most people never bothered to click the link :P
I don't either, but I do wonder if comes at the cost of tight level design. Ground Zeroes is a very well designed level despite how small it is and I doubt that level of polish will be consistent in Phantom Pain.
Phantom Pain is 200 times the size of Ground Zeroes. GTAV larger than all the previous games combined. Now Destiny is multitudes the size of Reach. I feel like game size has become the new thing that companies like to wave around like a penis.
While I'll agree this game doesn't deserve the contempt it is usually given, I think you may be being a bit generous. I won't say the story is garbage, but it certainly doesn't come close the original game.
Also, roughly 50% of the game is a rehash of the first game, from character models to environments. I will grant that they did update some of the environments but reusing the same enemies was just lazy. It's still a really good game, but it's succes...
"Also Kojima stated, so many times before release, that the game would be short prologue...so once again."
If Kojima said before release that the game was a piece of shit would that excuse the game from being crap on release?
I played the game on PS3 as well, and it kind of makes me feel less inclined to upgrade to PS4. It still looks amazing and if "next-gen" only means some more FPS and slightly better lighting effects, I'll be glad to sit on the fence for a while longer.
26% after 15-20 hours? I got 91% and 100% of the trophies in 17 hours man. I wonder what you've been wasting that time on.
Irrational was not a cash cow. Bioshock Infinite reportedly cost $200 million to make. It bombed and it bombed hard.
Mattrick sure has this PR down to a science!
But, but Jar Jar Binks was such a classic and beloved character! I think it's clear to everyone Solid Snake and Master Chief have nothing on Sir Binks!
I'm going to echo NewMonday here and agree that press conferences shouldn't be made to entertain, but instead to inform the press (Ah, so that's what that word is for!).
Slowly, but surely, they are being instead geared more towards the public. Most of which probably couldn't care less about watching some boring press conference and would rather get the cliffnotes. I mean, who here actually reads press releases?
