But it doesn't. The more generations who are introduced to these practices, and believing that it's just how gaming is, will ultimately accept it.
Then anyone from previous generations are forced to go along with it, or quit gaming.
People always living in the now, and not seeing what the future holds if they don't fight it when it's happening.
@Kribwalker
But if not for DLC, and the evolving industry finding new ways to gouge it's customers, we may not have them. It all points back to two major companies... Bethesda and Microsoft.
EA also had thoughts on changing the way Battlefield would work in the future, by charging gamers a small fee to reload their gun, instead of picking up ammo. There's a video somewhere of this exact idea from an EA suit.
It's only a matt...
Let me guess. Downvote from a 14 year old, or one of the terrible parents who let their kids play these games and give them cash to buy microtransactions...
I really don't care who my character likes to pork in their time off in a non storied game.
I also don't like this forced crap.
I do like the way they call it gender non-conformist though... It's less based in fantasy than 'gender fluid'.
No need to respond, I don't care what you think you are, despite your quite real genetalia.
Bethesda and Microsoft... Rubbed off on EA, Ubisoft, Activision and any other company that swallowed all the good dev teams and turned them into slave zombies for the suits.
Then add a generation of gamers, who knew nothing of the value of real expansion packs and games with cheat codes and unlockables, along with parents who can't tell their little cherubs, no.
Someone please tell me who to contact about this blatant forcing of gambling in games rated for players not old enough to legally gamble.
Surely the rating on any game with random loot boxes should be AO, as it encourages and pushes, you guessed it... Gambling!
This is the only way we'll see publishers back down with MTs. If they have a smaller audience to push loot boxes on, then they will soon remove them from games they wish to sell to teens as wel...
Now, get rid of the Microtransactions in a single player game and you may get a day one sale or two.
It's on my, 'buy second hand' list, and judging from just about everyone else's mood on the subject, we might be lucky if there are any second hand copies.
In that case, it'll be a store sale for less than £20.
@Kun_ADR
Why? Should I rate The Binding of Isaac a 7 due to it not having a AAA price point, retro graphics and being an indie game?
That game is a solid 9.5 with it's huge replayability for less than £15. 1000 hours and counting, more than can be said for 90%+ of AAA games.
Even with MMOs though... I used to love them, but even the B2P ones seem to charge you for inventory and bank space these days, when that feature should be implemented with bags or in game currency.
See ESO and Guild Wars 2. I would rather they charged for cosmetics only, although I even hate that system, as it nixea in game armours to dreary stuff, like Black Desert Online.
Warframe still has the most user friendly microtransaction system and I can't...
@Zeke68
I haven't bought the Nioh DLC yet. So much to play this year. Glad it's worthwhile, as I loved Nioh. I realised the SP is worthy after seeing the amount of content you get, so it's on the list.
I wish they would just label them properly as expansion packs in stores, so you know you're getting your money's worth.
Invented term. So, the 2000s Robocop is a reboot. New actor, timeline reset, no follow on from the original, entirely different story.
God of War. Kratos, after his adventures in Greece, has moved to Scandanavia , had a child, and has settled down. Same character, continued story, still the protagonist... It's a sequel, new style gameplay or not.
No it's not. It's a continuation of canon. Following on from GoW III.
If it forgot about Kratos' past, it would be a reboot, soft or otherwise. But it doesn't. It's a continuation of Kratos' life... Sequel.
I am Setsuna would be a welcome Plus game shortly. Really want to play it as an old FF fan, but don't want to pay £33 for a short RPG.
MGSV... Didn't like it so much with the story being messed up and lack of indoor areas. Maybe MGSIV, as I've not played it recently.
It's a bit less popular, but 2K have also made a faux pas with WWE 2K18. I'm surprised no one has written anything about it yet, seeing the recent travesty with NBA 2K18.
They basically gave a Season Pass for $30 last year with roughly 35 wrestlers, a Showcase mode, with arenas and other content, a move pack and an unlock pack.
This year, for the same price, they give 12 wrestlers, the move pack, the unlock pack and a career mode booster, which is...
Agreed. The only guys out there doing worthwhile DLC, are the ones making true expansions, like CDPR or Edmund McMullen's Isaac Afterbirth.
I played a Nier: Automata demo on PS4 Pro and it was amazing. The full game on release was just as fluid.
Seriously, so much faith in a corporation who has lied, lied and lied again. Yes, it may be more powerful, but when 4K is hitting sub 30fps, shouldn't you be asking why it's 'so much more powerful than any console' to Microsoft, when I can play TR on Pro with better framerates, instead of blindly following?
I sure as hell would kick up...
That last line 'It's subjective and depends on your audience.'.
Exactly, if you don't like South Park or it's full frontal humour, don't watch it, play it, read about it or... Let me just steel you for this... Comment about it.
Decide you dislike it, and move on, not giving it publicity, attention nor money. Others will.
SJW is a now used term for anyone refusing to just move on after something that offends them....
No it doesn't. Shush now...
Depends... Although I can say Sid Meier has dropped in my estimation since agreeing to chop every Civ game up up, selling us the same mechanics and race packs cut as DLC for three games now, pretty much like The Sims.
Total Warhammer is also a rich man's joke.
Barebones AAA games, to be cut into chunks and sold at a later date. We'll soon be paying £50 for a title screen and the rest will be DLC and microtransactions... These 'names' ...
Legend of Dragoon
Syphon Filter
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro The Dragon
Ridge Racer Type 4
Tekken 2
Medieval
Dino Crisis
Resident Evil 2
G-Police
Gran Turismo 2
Bushido Blade
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Ape Escape
Tenchu
That would do me fine.
