It was better to buy a Pro on release. I got mine for £289 pre-order from Tesco, then sold my original PS4 for £150 with twelve games. Kept all my special games on the shelf for the collection.
So, I got a Pro for £139.
It would have been worth it, even if I did pay the full price, as it had double the HD space, looks a little nicer and is less noisy than the base model.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the PS4 though, it ha...
Ubisoft has been improving over the past year. I'm willing to support them, but still wary of the future.
AC: Origins was great, FC5 looks to be an improvement over 4 and Primal, The Division still being updated and supported... But there are still problems. Wildlands was a little too rough, no Splinter Cell since last generation.
Like FFXV right? Square Enix have been selling out on that empty open world and trash combat system over trying to make the game as pretty as possible.
All the people masturbating over 4K and special quality visuals constantly overlook how mediocre the game is because of it.
I see this happening more and more as the argument for better graphics and frame rates totally shuns actual enjoyment from full priced games these days. It's absolute pretentious ...
The only thing about game releases that need embargoes, are spoilers for plots or major mechanic changes that are a genuine surprise for the player first hand.
Reviews should be before release, comment on the basis of the story and comment on gameplay, sound and graphical quality, how enjoyable it is and if it's in any way replayable or offers more to do after credits roll.
A game should be completed by a reviewer before a score is passed... If the ga...
Nier: Automata, Doom, Uncharted 2, 3 or 4, Prey, The Last of Us, Mario Odyssey, Yakuza 0/Kiwami/2, Resident Evil 7, Assassin's Creed: Origins...
All of them worthy single player games, and the majority of them better than the new Tomb Raider games. Not to say they are bad, but Lara has got too shooty and less explory.
It was in the days of magazines. There were ratings for each category; gameplay, graphics, sound, lastability, replayability, value for money and so on.
The average was calculated from those figures, giving a fair review score.
These days, added points for potential, who the publishers are and if they have an advertising campaign, reviewers who fanboy it up a little and make quotes like 'I want to give this a 5, but the...
10-9 reserved for games that are almost perfect, working completely or with extremely forgivable bugs, addictive and fun gameplay, mechanics, story, sound and absolutely worth every penny and more.
7-8 should be for a good, working game with plenty of content, but has nothing that defines it as perfect. Has enjoyable gameplay and is worth your money to play through.
No one with any.common sense is saying people as individuals can't enjoy it... But I would seriously question it's value for a full retail price. This should always be reflected in review scores, and journos need to stop scoring for content that isn't there on release. Potential is not a proper marker for a £50 game that may or may not get better with updates or sequels.
This was my problem with NMS on it's release... Too expensive for what we got, and ...
By comparison, most first party Sony exclusives take 4 years to make, have tons more content, advanced, non cartoony graphics, tons of lore, intricate storylines, well thought out maps, and great gameplay.
Think about that next to Microsoft and Rare's paltry effort. Also, Hellblade took less time, costs less to buy, looks ten times better and has more varied content... All from a much smaller team and budget.
The biggest problem for me about open world games, is the lack of rewarding content via unlockables.
Since developers, or more likely publishers, decided that we no longer need amazing unlockables through a rewarding exploration system in the gameplay, and instead have to purchase DLC or use microtransactions, the grind of exploring a huge environment just isn't enough to keep some of us interested.
All the good rewards are now locked to those who wou...
That's because there's virtually no need. The majority of Xbox 360 games can be played via PC version with better quality.
Yes, it's minus a couple of Gears of War, Halo and Forza games, but everything else was ported and the third party games were there already.
Getting PS exclusives to run in emulation is a much more worthwhile task.
There are native 4K games on Pro. Go and educate yourself before you make such statements.
Does it matter? Not really, as a good game is a good game to a gamer.

We'll see, but I'm quietly hopeful.

I don't see why. I've been playing GoW since the first in my 20s and really looking forward to this, changes and all.
Gamers who were around from the start would have grown up along with the tone of the new game.
Bad reviewers will use it as an excuse, but I can't see actual fans being derogatory about it.

Probably the blood of the five hundred mercenaries she'll kill throughout the game.
Please go back to puzzles, exploration, animal attacks and the occasional gun battle with bad humans.
The way reviews should be. Sick of this release day embargo guff and fooling people into buying before getting a good idea of the quality of the game.
If your product is good, you'll send out review copies a couple if weeks prior to release.

It's bias Gearnuke. They probably got a shot of the X version, then a shot of the Pro from a video while in motion to make it look worse.

Wow... Have you downvoters never played a GoW game, or are you just Thor fans haha?
