I came here to laugh at the articles about Sony saying this and MS saying that, it's so silly. Then I end up laughing at the rabid fanboying

Removes the need for the old console and the new one plays the game you purchased. I want to keep what I buy even if I don't replay many games. It's good value, a smart move, and most importantly pro consumer in a digital age

Also I know my current purchase will roll over into any new hardware. However way you spin it that's a positive thing. That exec wants you to buy the game again if you want to play it on different hardware

Backwards compatible has much to do with playing 'old' games as much as solidifying a digital purchase indefinitely for the future. This promise alone helps me buy digitally more confidently. PS users should be given the same confidence in their purchase, which they do not have currently. We have to buy the game again, which is ultimately what the company wants

Look at some articles from the beginning of this gen. The games on both platforms were lacking, it was actually a drought littered with flops for games. It was about power actually, it was feeding the clicks and fanboys back then. Now that Sony has stepped it up, the games fight is in MS court. Bring on E3, it's about time games be made a focus.

Wish I had the money, time, and general motivation/patience to keep up with PC gaming. I would go PS/PC for sure if so. There's a market for people like me, to get some of those PC perks with ease of access. Looking forward to Conan and path of exile in a couple months, I've played 500hrs of elite the last couple of years. That's what I get personally anyway.

Not to take away from the truth of that statement, they do invest more in diverse games. I do remember a short time ago in the 1st few years of PS4 life cycle there were no games worth mentioning. Bloodborne was probably it, though niche. All the 'power' articles were played out. It was ALL the clickbait out there! I think price point AND power are the real keys to success. The Xbox was way too expensive at the time, it was not the games library that everyone is saying is more importa...

I thought since the beginning it's been determined to be multiplatform?

Lol you were flagged as inappropriate! If people expressing certain viewpoints are a problem for n4g then this site is not what I thought it was. I registered here thinking it was unbiased and intelligent. I'm disappointed :(

Edit: wow really

It's actually a good deal for some. No need for this author to spit such venom on an optional service that may be really cool to others. It's a good business move and many people will take advantage of it. 8 bucks a month is so trivial. These journalist need to throw the salt on these articles for clicks, wether you like ms or not we should all be disappointed with how low journalistic integrity is nowadays.

Spencer has on numerous occasions stated he wanted to focus more on development of new titles within the Microsoft ecosystem (PC as well). He has made us well aware they are going to try to focus on games now. That's why people are now saying put up or shutup, because literally that's all that he has been preaching for a bit, outside of Scorpio talk anyways from what Ive gathered. Time is running out or some credibility will be lost.

This is as much a publicity maneuver as an actual movement. Only time will tell if this means anything at all. Marketing terms really don't mean much... all that said I hope it translates into an aggressive foray into new titles for Sure! E3 is important this year, more than ever

Interesting article, I don't think it should have been a versus console thing

When I used TV to game, which I did. I sometimes would want to use the PC for office work. I didn't want to do that on the screen. That's just me

40 million is not really losing. Investments may be down the line. It would take many years in the first party section to catch up with Sony, which possible but unlikely. They may have a shot with entry into the PC market. That would be successful I think, enough to warrant enough people to buy the hardware anyway

I think VR needs to be reinforced. I would like to see the tech make some strides.

I wish more people did this. I'd rather not support certain sites with the chronic clickbait that get spewed.

High hopes for this game, liked the first but felt it was rushed and had so much potential. If they do it right it'll be a blockbuster. The gameplay alpha is really cool
