Yes, Ghoul hit the nail on the head.
Know how continued development is paid for in the PC world? They're called MMO's and it's a MONTHLY FEE.
Know how continued development was paid for before MMO's? Expansion packs, ranging from $20-$40. No one complained about paying that.
What about continued develop during the 8-bit era? Oh wait, it didn't happen.
To suggest that we as gamers are entitled to ALL the fr...
So what's the solution, we don't get any more maps after release?
I personally don't mind subsidizing development costs through DLC if it means I get to add another 10-20hours of gaming. If the price gets too high and people don't buy they'll react with lower prices or more content. Now *that's* logic.
The more you try and stop the tide, the more likely you'll get swept away. Ride the wave or quit gaming, your call.
Alright, I get the whole 'iphone/ipad' gaming, but there is no way on-screen touch controls will let you game as well as a real controller.
My point: if you make iPad games, make 'em *iPad* games (see Infinity Blade). Not PS2 ports that cause you to slam your fingers across the screen like a monkey as you try to drive a Banshee.
The DLC pack is $24.99?
I just spent $22 at Wendy's for two people. That lasted approx. 15 minutes. I'm sure I'll get more than 15 minutes enjoyment out of four multiplayer map packs and the first three multiplayer skin packs.
The only people complaining about these things are children who struggle to buy more than one or two games a year and penny-pinchers who wouldn't buy the DLC anyway.
If you can't justify the 25 bucks...
Well, pc-TROLL-v4, I figured SWTOR was doomed, then I played the beta and was completely impressed.
The single-player MMO-style is excellent. Every NPC has a voiceover, the quest storylines are interesting and cinematic. Very KOTOR-ish. The classes/skill trees seem deep enough for the WoW-crowd and PVP was great.
I'll admit it definitely copied WoW is almost every way, it also built on those features to provide something different. Plus, lightsabers....
Well if it is Peer-2-Peer I don't see that as being a problem at all...unless you're one of those guys who scream "LAGG" after every death.
Microsoft (and to a lesser extent Sony) has done well with server-side matchmaking and peer-2-peer hosting, so the technology is there. Not to mention both the UC3 beta and subway early access ran smoothly.
p2p? As in Pay2Play? As in $60 at retail? Or are you talking about having to buy a sub for early access?
This gam...LOOKS AWESOME.
Links dead.
Judging by the title alone, sounds like a smart move for Sony.
Still not worth it, unfortunately.
One of my first ever "Day One Disappointments".
I'm guessing you've never played an Uncharted game before.
Nice, just jumped in on it.
Wow, that looks incredible.
Play it how you want, that's the point.
Ah, I used to play Age of Conan (at launch). I'll have to load it up again and see how its doing.
Nice find!
Big Tribes fan here, just bought this. Beta here I come!
I hope not.
I just pre-ordered SW:TOR from Origins.
This and Prey 2 are my first Day One's of 2012.
The fact that StanLee has one bubble, yet capable of such great comments proves this site's bubble system is broken.
Well said StanLee.
Hmm, $15 for 4-5 hours of gameplay.
Let's do some math:
$60 / $15 = 4
4 hours x 4 = 16 hours
So basically, this price is equivalent to paying $60 for a 16 hour game. That's decent. I usually like to get 20 hours out of $60, so according to that standard this should be priced at $12.
Oh but wait, it's Deus Ex: *whips out credit card*.
