I still find it amazing that Nintendo, with all its experience and supposedly high quality and highly paid executives could have made the errors it has made with this console.
The price, releasing it without any games or with features not finished, and know adding a hideous add-on for a feature that should have been included in the first place.
At a time when the relevance of dedicated gaming handheld's is being questioned, this product and launch needed ...
@thehitman
Having motion and rumble was available day one for the wii remote.
The tech was there.
ITS NOT AN ANDROID DEVICE AXELSTONE!!!
Look it up.
With this whole continuation feature, would one need to own the game for both the ps3 and vita? Eg if you wished to continue playing your call of duty campaign from the ps3, would you also need a psv copy of the game.
If so this would ruin an otherwise incredibly exciting feature.
@axelstone
The PS vita isn't an android device.
.
Lol, the A.R game mentioned in the article is a simple tech demo ffs. It's just showing off the concept of ar and how it can be used on the 3ds. The motion
Controls will seldom be used as a mainstream input.
I think a more pressing issue with the 3ds is it's lack of decent games. I tnk the hardware is pretty cool, it's just gonna take a year or 2 until I think if purchasing one
Why? People often compare pc gaming with console gaming. I don't this comparison as being that much different.
There is some truth to this. I am 26 and know lots of people. I would say that 5 of my friends would be 'gamers' eg have a next gen console and/or a dedicated handhed device. Out of the rest of them, 70 perent of them have iPhones. Most, if not all of them have a few games that they play regulary. This is more than 50 people, a much bigger market (that is growing everyday thanks to peoples new found obsession with smart phones).

Mass Effect 2 is leaps and bounds better than any of the games listed above.
@tigertron
Lol you quote the gamecube as having more quality hardcore titles? Yes the wii has titles targeted at a casual audience, more so than the GC. But it also has a lot more quality hardcore games.
I love the short sightless of people who see games like wii-fit and cooking mama a write off the whole console as geared towards casual.
@ShinGino
You = fail
You can't say that all the psp systems were simple revisions 'expect' for the Go. That's like saying that all the DS's were simple revisions 'expect' for the DSi. On that point, you could argue that of these 2 revisions, the DSi added features that weren't relevant to the core function of the console (playing DS games). The Go actually stripped features that were (ability to play most PSP games).

I agree, not to mention the PSP 1000, PSP 2000, PSP 3000, PSP Go and PSP2 and..........oh wait..
i think its a good article and raises valid points. The NGP is the exact same strategy Sony used for the PSP, and whilst you wouldn't say that the PSP failed - it certainly didn't perform and dominate the market like everyone thought it would (Sony included I'm sure).
What is different about Sony's strategy this time around?It seems the same to me and the market is even more crowded this time around with iOS and Android gaming starting to hit its straps.
@ Pixel_Enemy
PSP's software was bad and it had a Killzone and resistance game. 3 games will not make a system.
Like it or not, iOS gaming has become massive and should be a concern to Sony and Nintendo. The casual market will not bother purchasing an additional portable system to play games on the train like they did with the DS. Not saying that these devices will not sell, but it will primarily be traditional gamers that will purchase these systems. Even kids nowadays are asking for iPod touch's as they can get free games, and parents are also supportive as even paid games are less than $10 a p...
No doubt this thing is a beast. Still, so was the original PSP for it's time. And whilst it still sold well, it was smashed by the under powered, lower priced DS, and as a result had an inferior game library. To me, history is repeating itself and will be very interesting to watch.
Whilst i respect the tech here, I currently do not have the need for a portable PS3 that will more than likely have poor battery life and cost a bundle. Also wonder how expensive it will be for...

this is too late to the party. SE should have done this YEARS ago. Then it might have actually been relevant.
