No they havent. This was a rumor but Sony themselves came out and said that this functionality will only be available IF developers allow it.
Ain't gonna happen. It may be the case for all of the sony first party games, but 3rd party devs more often than not like to release 2 versions of their games, on PS3 and a handheld version.
Unless Sony can force this functionality (which I asume they cant due to existing legal agreements with 3rd parties) then i think it will become another dead feature which is a shame.
Interesting to see all the negative comments about this - pretty much 99% of the reviews have praised the motion controls. Most of them have said that they are the best thing about the game, which considering how good it is is quite a statement.
Certainly haven't killed it, but I find the pricing strategy pretty sneaky. I always thought the price for a device that powerful and cutting edge was unbelievable.
Not sure if this is the case, but it appears the $250 price point (which must have been generating a massive loss for Sony) was always intended to be subsided not only by games in the long run - but by the memory cards in the short term. C'mon, even though this is a slightly different format to SD cards - ...
Actually thats not quite true. Marketing (at its most basic sense) refers to everything to do with the 4 P's (product, price place and promotion).
Advertising makes up one part of the promotional element of that. Marketing would also refer to the design of the product, the segments it is targeting, the cost of the device, how it is distributed etc etc.
I think to say that mobile games will 'kill' consoles is a stretch, but they will dent lifetime sales of the Vita and 3DS. Core gamers will still buy them but they will get much fewer 'casual' sales than the PSP and especially the DS, which can be attributed to these people happy with the experience they receive from a smart phone.
Heck, the other big market (particularly for Nintendo) is kids, and most of my little cousins are asking for an entry level iPod ...
Hate to say, but I didn't see any multitasking in that video. Saw plenty of new applications being opened, but they all had to boot from scratch - and they never went back the previous games to show that they were still running.
Still, looks good. If this remote play for ANY PS3 game with zero lag is legit (even if the zero lag bit is only over locally connected WiFi) then this will be a day one purchase for me.
Yes and I'm sure Sonys motion control they were working on prior to the wii looked exactly like the move (ie a wiimote ripp off) /sarcasm.
Sonys motion control they were 'working on' would have been more like the 6 axis, and we all know how that turned out.
@Pwnmachine
I presume your talking about Foxconn as the 'sweatshop' factories that your referring to. Just an FYI here is a list of clients that Foxconn make electronics for...
Acer Inc. (Taiwan)
Amazon.com (United States)[16]
Apple Inc. (United States)[17]
ASRock (Taiwan)
Intel (United States)
Cisco (United States)
Hewlett-Packard (United States)[18]
Dell (United States)
Nintendo (Japan)...
Just get the wifi and use your phone as a wifi hot spot when needed. That way you wont be disadvantaged when an inevitable LTE/4G version comes out.
Outside of shortsightedness and the ugliness of this thing, I hate it for another reason.
The thing I loved about the DS was that it had such a different input method from all other systems that it resulted in so many exclusive games that were unique. It challenged developers to come up with new and exciting ways to play games.
This add on means that it is even easier to simply port old/multi platform games to the 3DS. boring!
I'm gonna be the minority here and say that I agreed with 90% of this article.
Pfft, when did this become about sales numbers?
You stated that MH4 will 100% be released on vita. As I correctly stated, historical release trends disagree with you.
Your wrong, move on with your life.
But the original monster hunter was on the PS2, so it also has precedence of selling on Sony consoles, yet tri made no appearance on the PS3.
Point = valid.
Just like how monster hunter tri is now also on the ps3?
@ smashcrashbash
Of course they'd have no qualms making one for vita. It's whether nintendo has secured exclusive or timed exclusive rights that is the issue.
I find it strangle that they did not mention it at all during Sonys show. even if they had some distant plan to make it, Sony would have at least mentioned it if they could.
So the Australian dollar is currently stronger than the US, yet it costs $100 more here? Import it is then.
And they wonder why Aussie retailers are hurting.
Not surprising, however as majority of my playing would be at home it would not be a massive issue. The main reason I play portables is so I can play when I want, without the gf interrupting by wanting to watch TV.
Having said that, it may be the Wii U that is more appealing to me (as for my usage they are actually in competition with each other, regardless of one being a portable and one being a console). Being able play on the big screen or stream to a portable when needed...
You realize Sony is a Japanese company right??
