The thing is, with both ps and microsoft, most people have to pick one as a primary, and can't have both, due to the paid subs. At this time, I can't see myself getting an xbone, let alone an xbone x, for the fact that I would only buy a few worthwhile games for the system. It doesn't make monetary sense to have both. Even as a secondary.
Sony does have crossplay. With pc. Consoles are direct competitors, while pc is not. Not too hard to see that they don't want to give up their market share to a direct competitor. The shoe was on the other foot and you saw the same thing happen. It's business. Not a playground.
Wow. While I think backwards compatibility and crossplay would be cool, they did that and it didn't seem to be very popular. The ps2 and 3 had all that. The industry pushed away from it.
