After all, the majority of console owners are not simply looking for exclusives like you're implying. Tons of multiplatform games are released per year, so this is a world of exclusives and multi-platform titles in case you haven't noticed. And several multi-platofmr titles are both commercially and critically successful, some even more ...
You know something, I doubt the majority of xbox owners really care about exclusives, really. At this point in time, even having a few exclusives mixed with tons of multi-platform games will keep xbox owners happy. I think the reason why this game is getting so many pre-orders is because people really just like the franchise, similar to the gran turismo franchise. It's not so much that gears is the "last real exclusive" or anything like that. This game is the 360's flags...

That's what I'm thinking as well. Nintendo really should have called it something else, especially when it's totally new hardware. I bet most people are probably just seeing 3ds as just another ds unit with slight tweaks such as ds lite or dsi xl, as you've stated.
If the teaser is anything to go by, mw 3 will probably be the same as mw 2 with the exception of a few tweaks here and there...
I mean, hell, even the teaser is nearly identical as the teaser to mw 2...now that's saying something.
