Yeah if this only includes physical sales I would of thought it would of been a little bit higher in Japan. The console market there isn't what it used to be in a long time.
Multiplatform development would of took a extra 2 years at least plus without the extra development support from Sony. I knew it from the start Square and Sony had been possibly discussing this since around the PS3 FF7 tech demo was shown or around before the remasters got revealed at the nintendo direct years ago for consoles.
Well they are not getting the sales they want on Xbox and PC. So they have decided to port titles to other consoles there's nothing else to it.
Let's hope it's a new IP.

Longs they keep things balanced and maintaining that rather than let success get to their heads. Allocating their budgets well.
It seems to be happening with one company after another. EA and Playstation in the same week.
Granblue and P3 Reload are keeping me busy. On top of this Rise of Ronin and Stellar Blade coming soon. Well as Tekken 8 and Dragons Dogma 2 I'll pick up in the future. So many good games coming this year.
I admit it's hard working in development and running a studio. But I admit one thing is that I don't agree on your vision Neil. I've had my fix of Uncharted and Last of Us. That rumored space game sounds lot more interesting. Naughty Dog was lot better in its older days.
Hopefully I might pick it up on Steam Deck at some point or if it releases on the next Switch console. As a multi console owner this was the only game I wanted to play from MS studios.

Regardless I'm not interested in Sea of Thieves. Can't say I'm surprised about needing a MS account to play it.

MS hasn't made many good decisions for a long time running the console market.

The focus is PS and PC for GAAS/Multiplayer titles. Which has been clarified or a year or 2 later for single player titles for PC after the PS5 version. Bungie is an exception it had a agreement with Sony in regards of Xbox release and similar with MLB The Show to keep the licenses.
Other than that it's pretty much the strategy hasn't changed. Usually Sony have been quiet and when they clarify a situation they do.
Resistance 1-3 and Killzone 1-3 too. Folklore and 3 Dot Heroes are underrated gems.
